Chernovtsy In response to a recent combined drone and missile attack by Russian forces that struck a clinic in Odessa along with its entire ambulance fleet, the Ukrainian president expressed strong criticism By stating: The missile attacks and the Russian Shaheds are more powerful than the efforts of the United States and other countries to compel Russia to seek peace.
Yesterday, 315 drones were launched from the Russian Federation and the territories of Ukraine that it occupies illegally. Of these, 250 were shot down, along with 7 missiles, 2 of which were from North Korea.
This demonstrates thatthe exchanges within the so-called axis of evil continue unabated, despite the (few) international communitys efforts. These actions openly violate the UN resolutions we recently discussed, which were signed, including by Moscow, with the intent of isolating countries like Iran and North Korea. As Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense in Kyiv, pointed out in a recent interview with The War Zone,North Korea now can strike targets with lethal precision, thanks to the technology received from the Russiansthat improved missiles such as the KN-23. Notably, before that, at least half of these missiles had deviated during flight or exploded mid-air.
Budanov also stressed that there are agreements under which Moscow will help Pyongyang to start large-scale industrial production of unmanned aircraft carriers such as the Harpy or the Geran (which is the Russian clone of the Iranian Shahed, ed.) on the territory of North Korea.
In addition to theattack on the Odessa maternity hospital, where three civilians were killed and fifteen injured, hundreds of drones targeted at least seven large neighborhoods in Kyiv last night. This assault lasted for 5 hours and 7 minutes. The neighborhoods of Darnytskyj, Obolonskyj, Holosiivskyj, Desnyanskyj, Podilskyj, Shevchenkivskyj, and Poznyakij were set on fire, leaving them engulfed in thick, toxic clouds of black smoke at dawn. As a result, the air quality in the last two of these areas has become the worst on record.
Whatleaves one speechless, to say the least, is knowing that Zelensky had agreed with the Biden administration to transfer 20,000 anti-drone missiles to Ukraine, but the United States has decided to transfer them to the Middle East.
The president of Ukraine revealed this during an interview with ABC News: We were counting on those missiles he said afflicted but just this morning my defense minister told me that the United States has changed its mind.
Faced with devastating attacks like those never seen in any war which for brutality and volume of fire establish a sad record over the previous one every day,the USA therefore not only does not impose sanctions on the aggressor but also takes away the possibility of defending itselfby going back on its word.
In a similar vein, faced with states that sponsor terrorism and continue to exchange weapons, money, skills, intelligence, and data with the declared goal of escalating nuclear conflict towards the West, the European Union has opted to fund this terrorism by purchasing record amounts of Russian LNG.
In that interview,Zelensky expressed his frustration with the stance of Western partners regarding the sanctions on Russia. He pointed out that one reason for their refusal to lift the sanctions is the belief that Ukraine should enlist its barely 18-year-olds in the army. To challenge this notion, he referenced successful blitz operations, such as the one where Ukraine significantly diminished Russian strategic aviation without losing a single soldier. Zelensky emphasized thateffectiveness does not solely depend on the number of personnel involved; rather, it is proportional to the quality of weapons and technology at their disposal.
Stating that Moscow can mobilize about 4050 thousand people a month, while Kyiv does not recruit about 27,000and that sanctions should be aimed at the money that the Russians use to finance the war, Zelensky provides incontrovertible evidence, so obvious as to be disconcerting after 11 years of war.
The Wests hesitation to impose severe sanctions on Moscow is evident in a recent statement by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. When asked if he believed thatthe risks for NATO would increase once a lasting ceasefire is achieved in Ukraine, Rutte frankly responded, I think that is a fact.
In light of all this, it is no wonder thatmore than half of Ukrainians are adamantly against any territorial concessions(a survey conducted yesterday by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology). These people are fed up with trading away their countrys resources for words.
