Lipase is manufactured in your pancreas. The pancreas is a gland located between your stomach and small intestine that has both endocrine functions (such as producing hormones like insulin and glucagon) and exocrine functions (such as producing digestive enzymes, including lipase).

Within the pancreas, the production of lipase primarily occurs in a type of cell known as a pancreatic acinar cell. These cells package lipase along with other digestive enzymes (like amylase and protease) into small vesicles, which are then transported via a series of ducts to the main pancreatic duct, and then released into the duodenum, which is the first part of the small intestine.

In the duodenum, the lipase mixes with bile that has been secreted from the liver and gallbladder. The bile salts in the bile help to break down large fat droplets in the food into smaller fat droplets, which makes it easier for the lipase to access the fats and break them down into smaller molecules for absorption in the small intestine.

That's the basic process of lipase production and function. However, it's important to note that this process can be influenced by a variety of factors, including your diet, health, and the health of your pancreas, liver, and gallbladder.
