北风卷地白草(3)折，胡(4)天八月即飞雪。
忽如一夜春风来，千树万树梨花开。
散入珠帘湿罗幕(5)，狐裘(6)不暖锦衾(7)薄。
将军角弓(8)不得控(9)，都护(10)铁衣冷难着。
瀚海(11)阑干(12)百丈冰，愁云惨淡(13)万里凝。
中军(14)置酒饮归客，胡琴琵琶与羌笛。
纷纷暮雪下辕门(15)，风掣(16)红旗冻不翻。
轮台(17)东门送君去，去时雪满天山路。
山回路转不见君，雪上空留马行处。
1. 歌：歌行体诗歌。
2. 判官：官职名，一般是节度使、观察使等高官的幕僚。
3. 白草：西北的一种牧草，干后变白。
4. 胡：古代汉民族对北方其他各民族的通称。
5. 罗幕：用丝织品做成的帐幕。
6. 狐裘：狐皮做的袍子。
7. 锦衾(qin1)：丝绸做的被子。
8. 角弓：两端用兽角装饰的硬弓。
9. 控，拉开。
10. 都护：镇守边镇的长官。此为泛指，与上句中“将军”相对应。
11. 瀚海：湖泊。（沙漠称“瀚海”是明清以后才有的。）
12. 阑干：纵横交错的样子。
13. 惨淡：昏暗。
14. 中军：主帅的营帐。
15. 辕门：军营的门。
16. 掣：拉，扯。
17. 轮台：唐轮台在今新疆维吾尔自治区米泉县境内，与汉轮台不是同一地方。
18. 天山：亚洲中部最大的一条山脉，横亘中国新疆中部、吉尔吉斯斯坦和乌兹别克斯坦，西端伸入哈萨克斯坦。

SONG OF WHITE SNOW IN FAREWELL TO SECRETARY WU GOING BACK TO THE CAPITAL
Snapping the pallid grass, the northern wind whirls low;
In the eighth moon the Tartar sky is filled with snow
As if the vernal breeze had come back overnight,
Adorning thousands of pear trees with blossoms white.
Flakes enter pearled blinds and wet the silken screen;
No furs of fox can warm us nor brocade quilts green.
The general cannot draw his rigid bow with ease;
E'en the commissioner in coat of mail would freeze.
A thousand feet o'er cracked wilderness ice piles,
And gloomy clouds hang sad and drear for miles and miles.
We drink in headquarters to our guest homeward bound;
With Tartar lutes, pipas and pipes the camps resound.
Snow in large flakes at dusk falls heavy on camp gate;
The frozen red flag in the wind won't undulate.
At eastern gate of Wheel Tower we bid goodbye
On the snow-covered road to Heaven's Mountain high.
I watch his horse go past a bend and, lost to sight,
His track will soon be buried up by snow in flight.
