Accepting Fate
By Jing Yu
Translated by Yu Lan
The end of the year came as it did
Things of past, multifarious and interwoven
Have been left in the paths of history
There’s no longer a dense forest in the body
Which now has a road to come from
And has also paved the road home
The conventions I once wanted to reject
Now fit me so well like a piece of clothing
A seed will eventually
Grow into its own shape
The dawn however can never
Trace the path of dusk
After countless stumbles
I put my hands together that grasped oars
Palm to palm
With eyes closed
I accepted fate
