"Men are pigs” is commonly used to describe men who have dirty minds or behaviors especially related to sexual behaviors towards to women. Do the famous names like Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, Matt Lauer etc. ring the bell?
Ok, then why call men pigs not dogs or cats? As we know, dogs and cats are the favorite puppy companions for lots of people in the US. So by no means that people would use their adored things for sarcasm. On the other hand, pig is like the symbol for dirtiness. We often use the phrase “the dirty old man” similar to Chinese “猥瑣”. I guess men regardless of their ages may have fantasy about women in their dirty minds. Often on TV or movie, we hear the parents tell their little girls about not to easily trust men for what they say because men just want to get into their pants. Since pigs are dirty, that can be translated into men as well.
However, it is a normal behavior that men crave about sex because they are males and born to be that way. I am talking about the normal ones not the violation of the law and criminal sexual predators. In current culture, men are typically on the hot seats for having affairs or consensual sexes while women are tended to be sympathetic. But without women’s collaborations, how far can men go? Men maybe only want one thing in this scenario but women may want to get more things. Right? Not sure.
If women don’t want men to be pigs, what can they do? In the good old days of Mao’s China, ordinary men could hardly be pigs because it was hard to differentiate women from men.
