Why is India so backward compared to China and Japan?

Intuitively, India has a history as long as China. Ancient India and Ancient China were all human cradle civilizations. Yet, while China is the same Ancient China in race and culture, India is not. China is the only surviving ancient human cradle civilization. Chinese is more or less the same Chinese with some mixed blood or surrounding people, while Indians today are mainly Aryans. So India has a long history and culture. But modern India is not the same demography, not the same geography, and not the same culture as ancient India.

Comparatively, Japan has a much longer continued history than India, but shorter than China.

An advanced civilization needs an accumulation of culture. The more culture accumulated, the more potential to advance. Indian culture has been interrupted many times, so it is backward compared to China and Japan.
