The U.S.-China trade war: Who started it, and who benefits?

The US started it, and it benefits no country. That’s called strategy. The trade war is a loss-loss game.

The US rationale is as follows:

the US is the largest economy in the world.
China is the fastest-growing economy.
The US doesn’t want China to catch up with the US.
Because the US has a larger economy than China, the US can play the loss-loss game, thinking that the US can be more tolerant of loss than China can.
For illustration, suppose the US economy is 100, and China’s economy is 70. By playing the loss-loss game, if both lost 70, then the US has still 30 while China collapsed.
The whole world suffers because of the US trade war. Why with advanced technology and we have inflation? Why do we have a supply chain problem? Because the largest two economies in the world are playing a loss-loss game, the world economy is losing.

China has 1.4 billion people and Chinese people have the right to pursue happiness. When their living standard is rising, the Chinese economy definitely will surpass the US. If the US doesn’t want China to surpass it and still allow the Chinese to have the human right to pursue happiness, the US and China should cooperate to make a mass migration to have Chinese migrate from China to the US, until the US has more population than China has so that when Chinese in China can have the same living standard or GDP per capita, as the US, and the US still is the number one country.

So we can solve the problem without violating the human rights of Chinese people and keep the US number one. The US should adopt this solution if it is not racist.

The US has more capital, more resources, and more talents, and believes it has a more advanced political system than China. So the US should have the confidence that it can accommodate more population than China can. If the US respects the human rights of the Chinese in China, it doesn’t need the trade war to suppress China. It should take more immigrants from China and fast, faster than the growth of China. Let China grow in GDP per capita only but not grow in GDP in total. This will keep the US number one and can benefit the whole world.
