去年，澳大利亚女歌手Amy Shark在YouTube上发布一首新歌《C’Mon》（ “别介”），著名鼓手Travis Barker助阵，歌曲直截了当“自我”揭短，同时表达了改变愿望与无助，如歌中唱道：

注意到歌曲MV（见下面YouTube视频）中一个情景，Amy把一台显示器给砸了（或坠落），暗示砸了某些“说教”或者别的什么？MV从视觉上再次解读了歌曲。其中的一部分镜头给了布满刺青纹身的著名鼓手Travis Barker，架子鼓水花飞溅和废弃建筑物遥相呼应，也成了MV不可或缺的一部分，不仅仅Travis是此歌曲的作者之一。不奇怪，即使同一首歌，完全可能拍出不同的MV，比如，选择富丽堂皇的宫殿之类的背景，歌曲意境肯定不一样了。
和Amy的这首歌曲比较，Ingrid Andress 的获奖歌曲“Lady Like”则叛逆意味十足，表现“不一样的淑女”，可谓走到另一个极端。
有时候，要区分自私（selfish)和自我为中心（self-absorbed)并不容易，在电影“辐射（居里夫人）”（Amazon出品）中有个情景，居里表达他的爱慕心声，还不是居里夫人的她回应道：“我是一个自私的人。” 居里回答道：“你只是self-absorbed”，的确，她幸运遇到了一个懂她的人，电影中的此刻让人印象极为深刻，且不说电影后来，居里夫人如何卷入他人家庭，如何被人窗前骂大街，这些又会怎样影响人们对她的评价，或根本没有影响？个人成长环境对人的影响是很大的，名人也不例外，也影响人对人的言行举止看法。自我为中心（self-absorbed）更多是一种缺乏安全感带来的自我保护，只有自身内心变得强大以后，会有所改变。同样，完全被保护的环境中成长起来的人，缺乏自我保护意识，可能如一篇文章所说的那样，看起来“天真得有些愚，有诱导他人做恶使坏的嫌疑”，同样需要时间去调整，但过程可能有些苦涩。特别是，如果成长环境避免不了两个极端的同时存在，也就避免不了其间的左右摇摆，内心的困惑挣扎可能要持续更长一段时间。
最近，成立于1983年的MusiCares Foundation选择著名歌手Joni Mitchell (77岁）为2022年代言人，基金会主要帮助那些从事音乐、遇到困难的音乐人。不得不提一下，Joni Mitchell 2000年重新翻唱了自己的成名歌曲“Both Sides Now ”，如果比较三十年前（1969年）版，感觉很不一样了，她注入了对生活的更多理解？于是有了这样的小小疑问，是她改变了歌曲的味道，还是生活改变了她自己？显然，是后者。这首歌在电影《love actually 》（2003）中有个情景里出现，Emma Thompson的表演在歌曲衬托下感动了无数人（见下面YouTube一段电影片段），相信很多人看过这部电影。
关于“改变”都在歌声里，想象Ruston Kelly老了以后，如何翻唱自己的歌曲“Alive“（活着）？ 他的音域偏中低频部，音乐伴奏补上高频部分，此歌还加入了高音伴唱，听起来更加丰富饱满。歌曲中段里的两句歌词起到画龙点睛的作用，点击着“生活真谛”，“Say you need me，Say you need me too”（心心相印，彼此关爱），歌曲从花儿破土开始，到星星满天，再回到厨房里正在煮饭的她/他，轻轻哼唱着John Prine的歌…
