The Drowning Swimmer

I'm alone in the ocean

 since the last buoy drifts away  

But I'm not thinking of rescue  

I'd rather die this way  

 

Water is icy  

and tastes salty  

I let it fill my lungs  

then my whole body  

 

I see stars twinkling  

their heavenly eyes  

Feet still dancing to the rhythm  

so loveless

 

Prayer is said

I breathe in my last breath and murmur  

I love you --

There comes the wave
