从我科某医生医嘱的联想

我科一位医生, 人非常好, 但说话喜欢用 F 字.
去年某日, 他在病房大楼外打手机, 大声的 F 这 F 那, 不少路过的病人家属听到, 给告到上层去了.
也经常听到他在电话里给某些不讲理的同级或上级同事用粗语.
前几天科里来了新病人, 护士给他打电话拿医嘱, 他说: do the F pre OR workup.
这位护士和他烂熟, 她在医单上写:
As per Dr. XXX, do the F pre OR workup.
她用手机拍下, 邮件给他, 说: 是这个医嘱吗?
他马上打回来, 说: 我的上帝, 你还真这样写哈........传为笑话.

在图书馆等到了排了好几个月的电子书: 笑星和脱口秀主持人 Trevor Noah 写的 Born a Crime. 才看了几章, 写的非常风趣幽默.
抄下他写的一段关于语言和文化溶合的问题 (家长很多年前也跟我说过同样的话,那时我听不进).
他说到有些黑人故意说黑人的口音突出自己的与众不同 (他是白爸黑妈).

Language brings with it an identification and a culture or at least the perception of it.
A shared language says" we are the same", language barrier says "we are different".
Racism teaches us that we are different because of the color of our skin, if you are racist, if you meet someone who does not look like you, the fact that he/she does not speak like you reinforces your racist preconceptions: he/she is different, he/she is less intelligent.

他举了个例, 我相信很多其他国家来的英语不好的人都有同感:

A brilliant Mexican scientist came to the States to lecture, but he speaks spoken English, so people in America say: I do not trust him. others ask: "why? he is a famous and brilliant scientist".
" yah, maybe Mexican scientist, but I do not trust him".

在不说母语的国家, 语言能力不过关, 不被重用, 怨气重重的大有人在.
能出国的很多人都很能干, 但在别人的土地上不能运用自如的用他们的语言交流, 别人怎么用你?
更可怕的是闭关自守, 圈着自己的文化传统拒绝与这里的文化溶入.
在医院做, 你才会发现有多少从其他国家来的中年人不会说英语, 有的只能靠十来岁的小孩翻译(老年人不会说情有可源).
可悲!
