这首歌终于进入了1900-1909十年最受欢迎的一百首歌的前十名。它在我参照的这个排行榜中被排在了第10名。这首“在昔日美好的夏日里”是出自美国大名鼎鼎的“叮当巷”。该巷是在纽约的一个音乐家汇集之所。这首歌的词曲作者分别是Ren Shields和George Evans。据称最初当Shields和Evans想把这首歌卖给一家纽约最大的音乐出版社的时候并不成功。出版商认定这类歌会在夏季结束的时候很快被人遗忘。他们的贵人是Blanche Ring。她不仅帮助Evans把这首歌改编成了钢琴曲谱，而且在她极大热忱的敦促下使得该曲终于被加进了她参演的1902年的音乐剧“辩护人”中。
