Field Marshal Manekshaw time to make a decision

I've heard this speech a dozen times, and I'm not even an Indian. Field Marshal Manekshaw was an ideal man and a brilliant leader.

Only when you are moving in the right direction does speed matter. There's an ideal time to make a decision. Narasimha Rao said, Not taking a decision is also a decision. We call this masterful inactivity.

First Indian Army Field Marshall General Thimmayya from Kodagu, was absolutely right in promoting Sir Manekshaw as the next Army Chief.

Quite an irony because he was the one who stopped Indira Gandhi from taking the quick decision of going to war with Pakistan in 1971; he explained to her with logical reasons why waiting for a few more months would be more beneficial. I think decision promptness depends on the situation...
