Nancy & Ardem, Nobel balance Piazo1, Piazo2 organ controls

"I am a big proponent of work/life balance, and I have always prioritised my family over work. Nancy has been my full partner in this journey, and our son, Luca, has been such a wonder to watch grow. Through my uncertain times as a youth, my parents and siblings always prioritised education and unwavering love."

In his biography, medicine laureate Ardem Patapoutian highlights on the importance of work/life balance. This picture was taken at the 2022 Nobel Prize award ceremony when Ardem Patapoutian and his wife Nancy Hong attended the event.

hashtagtbt to Stockholm! And it’s true that Ardem always made time to be outside the lab, even as an assistant professor. Probably helped him be an efficient scientist?

Congratulations Ardem Petapoutian for winning the Nobel Prize in Medicine 2022. A significant journey of his life Ardem Patapoutian an Armenian -Lebanese origins, who emigrated to the United States and learned English, received his education advancing every step of the way as an honorable student, work/balance and high perseverance-dedication to his scientific knowledge and important discoveries in muscles- somatosensory neural channels of heat, touch, itch and pain detection ( Piazo1, Piazo2) and organ controls-as the urinary blader, full - empty signaling, also significant in blodder awareness. Most interesting in the overall positioning awareness of the Central Nervous System and brain functions, and RBC’s leading to new research areas. I’m also grateful to learn he is a great person with a family, and continues with his work in scientific endeavors, mentoring others.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Work life balance is hard, and requires high degrees of emotional intelligence which is, frankly, often lacking in highly accomplished scientists and engineers. Having had the pleasure of socializing with both Nancy and Ardem, I can say both of you are well balanced among some of the highest achievers!
