Ju-Hee Lim

Ju-Hee Lim was born in Seoul on October 2000. Her mother is also pianist. She began her piano studies at the age of three. She studies with pianist Hyoung-Joon Chang.
She has won numerous first prizes from piano competitions in Korea, and gave her debut recital at age nine at the Yamaha little pianist series in Korea on December 2009.
Ju-Hee Lim made her spectacular orchestral debut at the White Night Festival with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Valery Gergiev performing Kavalevsky Piano Concerto No.3 on June 2010 when she was nine years old and the concert was so successful she was immediately re-engaged to perform Haydn Piano Concerto No.11 to substitute great Greek Violinist Leonidas Kavakos few days later.
Since then she has appeared at Rheingau Musik Festival in Germany and Shanghai Oriental Arts Center in China in the same year.
On August 2011 she has appeared at Annecy Festival in France with Denis Matsuev and received great response from the audience.
On February 2012 she was invited to perform as a surprise guest of London Sympony Orchestra concert in Korea. She performed Ravel Piano Concerto in G major under Maestro Valery Gergiev.
The Russian media, who attened Ju-Hee Lim’s first performance at the concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre, made enthusiastic comments about the young girl’s talent.
“On 22 and 23 june 2010 at the concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre as part of the Stars of the White Night Festival, the nine-year-old pianist Ju-Hee Lim, Korea’s new wunderkind, performed with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra under the Valery Gergiev instead of the planned concert featuring the violinist Leonidas Kavakos, who has been forced to cancel his concerts St Petesburg and other European cities due to illness.
The young Korean musician began her solo career at the unprecedented age of nine. Many renowned wunderkinds-such as Evgeny Kissin or Vadim Repin- bagan somewhat later, at the age of twelve or thirteen.”

Agree with Herman. She has confidence, and, more importantly, musicianship. The orchestra under Chung Myung-Whun, as always, responds excellently. Bravo to all!?

I clicked "like" simply because she is only 14 and very talented and has the light touch required for this piece. It is way too fast - the tempo is of course set by the conductor. When she starts with the ascending octaves, it is something like 170 bpm. You deprive the music of layers of expressiveness this way. Great future ahead of this girl.?

Well, just a fine performance. This young lady is really impressive in her piano skills (dexterity), sensitivity to the emotional parts of the works she plays - dynamic in the dramatic sense when called for, and mature in her overall play and stage presence. Remarkable for such a young lady. She performed the Kuhlau Sonatina very much better at 7 than I did at 13! Her performance of the Haydn D Concerto was skilled, and demonstrated an emotional understanding of selected passages not demanding drama or a dynamic approach. Her experience with the likes of Gergiev at Marinsky Hall shows. At only age 14 she had a fine, mature approach to this Beethoven 3rd. I’d like to see her come out with a cd of the Beethoven 3rd and 4th concertos. The orchestra should be the SPO too – they have become a quality orchestra with one of the finest maestros in the world today. Their Principals are all hand-picked and in the top of the field in their individual instruments. They complement well, the effort of Maestro Chung to build a World Class Orchestra. They mix well together and with Maestro Chung. A quality group of musicians. Ms. Lee would do well to hang around and grow a bit more with Maestro Chung and the SPO. What a combination for music-making that would be. Wonderful performance here Ms. Lim. You have a very brilliant future ahead of you – a blessing to the audiences of the classical music world.?

Beautiful interpretation played with passion and good technique. She will surely become one of the foremost soloists in time to come. She is capably supported by conductor Myung-Whun Chung?

NHK Symphony Orchestra conducted by Miltiades Karydis

The great, eclectic, Hungarian pianist Annie Fischer has been praised for her "characteristic intensity" and "effortless manner of phrasing. Her manner and style was more subtle than her actual technique, itself.
Annie Fischer's interpretations of Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert and Schumann, as well as Hungarian composers like Béla Bartók continue to receive the highest praise from pianists and critics even after some 20 years since her death. She was surely remarkable to listen to!

"Her manner and style was more subtle than her actual technique, itself." Bad English. Bad generalization. Just bad all around!?

Ok.... How about, her style appeared to be less "serious" than the fine quality Incorporated in her technique.." In my opinion?

+GreatPerformers1 Neither statement makes any sense whatsoever.?

Only three ladies can playing everything perfectly, Annie Fischer was the best one, then is Martha Argerich and Maria Joao Pires. That's my opinion.?
