翻出一篇以前写的歌评,狂汗。这中英夹杂的。。。
Let me say something about this album now that I have listened to it for some time.
1) It's a successful one. I like it. Maybe the only mistake in this album is
the "Beautiful Mistake". It's a Wang2 Jing4wen2 stage song in my opinion.
Better leave such songs to singers like Chen Huixian or Peng Ling. Another one that I am not very attracted to is "Empty Fortress", but the accompanying piano is fine:)
2) I like all the songs composed by Faye. I think she did really a great job.
I can feel DouWei in the songs. The zhu3 da3 ge1 "To Love" is a huge success
in combining the atmosphere of lyrics and melody. It's powerful, beautiful
and appealing. Somehow I prefer the Cantonese version. Maybe Cantonese is more keng1 qiang1, hence more suitable a language for the song. "Nothing Left" has some rap style, and I would describe it as "zhang1 chi2 zi4 ru4", I mean the transition of tension and rest is smooth. Both "Sunshine Baby" and "April Snow" have got beautiful melody and poetic lyrics. The highlights of the songs are extremely DouWei-like I think. That's why I feel these two songs fit into the "Fu2 Zao4" album. And I think they are really Faye's song, I simply cannot imagine another Chinese female singer sings them so well.
3) I cannot help thinking of Phoebe and Holden (in Catcher in the Rye) when
listening to "Carousel". And while listening to it, I feel as if I am riding
the carousel. I feel as if I went back to my childhood and then the reality
came back when the music stops.
4) I like Zhang1 Ya4dong1's two songs "Nightly Makeup" and "Cigarette".
Somehow I sensed Cranberries in these songs. Lin2 Xi1 wrote great lyrics for
"Cigarette".
5) Well, I have to admit that Xie4 Ting2feng1 does have some talent in
composing songs. "MV"'s melody is quite nice, but the lyrics are totally
beyond me:)
6) Ok, now about my favorite song "Passenger". It's the quinetessence of "dan4 dan4 de you1 shang1, dan4 dan4 de xi3 yue4, dan4 dan4 de wu2 nai4". The orginal was sang by Sophine Zelman/Lars Halapi. And the lyrics are very good. More, Lin Xi's lyrics are also good, even better IMHO.
