Although being busy, I just can’t resist watching this famous drama adapted from Elizabeth Gaskell's love story, North and South.

Like most young little girl, I was so obsessed with Pride and Prejudice. From novel to movie, I can’t exactly remember how many times I read and/or watch it. North and South is so different with it, while they have so many commonalities.

If Pride and Prejudice is a watercolor painting with light and peaceful color, then North and South is more like an oil painting with rich color, mingling the society conflicts, class differences, reflecting more thorough thoughts from the artist on reconciliation of ending harmony.

Miss Margaret Hale is a well-educated middle class southerner whose family is uprooted to the northern town of Milton. Attracted by Margaret’s physical appearance and graces, the handsome and charismatic cotton mill owner John Thornton proposed to Margaret and got rejected as Margaret distasted the town and the harsh behavior of John Thornton as a mill owner. As events progressed and circumstance altered, the mercy, kindness and appreciation keep John and Margaret tipping into the ocean of love.

The progress of solving conflicting on workers and masters, this means of engaging in self-adaptation while removing themselves from opponents position, helped building the much-admired vision of the author in turning around the lives with common needs.

The violin gives the episodes a remarkable touch on the progress of series. The blues and graces from violin strengthen the feeling and emotion far beyond any other instruments can offer.

The tremendous performance from both leading actress (Daniela Denby-Ashe) and leading actor (Richard Armitage) makes the drama a must-see for many audiences.

Just can’t wait to read the original book.
