New Bamboo

 

Break the frozen earth

Shoot through the crags of rocks

Still bearing your brown afterbirth

And the frost of the night

Your greenness deepens

As one section leaps higher

Than the other

You thrust your spear

To the blue sky

To catch the clouds

From far away

To hold the new moon

For a few nights of

Sparkling light
