The Roots

Change or not change
I wouldn't know I
couldn't make you
I could only change myself
to adapt deeper in my heart
ready for either the changing you
or the non-changing you
Argument is pointless
we know regardless of how we argue
and who is right or wrong
we are only getting more stubborn with age
It is almost as if we are two trees
growing across each other
not quite separable from ground up
yet have our separate roots underneath
