海伦凯勒箴言中译，送给地震中伤残的同胞们
海伦∙凯勒(Helen Keller, 1880-1968) 是美国盲聋人作家。她的《假如给我三天光明》是文学史上的著名篇章，给了无数残疾人以生活的勇气。

当一扇幸福之门关闭时，另一扇就打开了。但我们的眼光总是停在那扇已经关闭的门，而没有看到这扇打开的。When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.
如果世上只有欢乐，我们就永远都学不会勇敢和忍耐。We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world.
世界有无数的苦难，但世界也有无数对苦难的征服。Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.
自怜是最可怕的敌人。如果我们屈服于它，我们就做不成任何对世界有益的事。Self-pity is our worst enemy and if we yield to it, we can never do anything good in the world.
性格不是在轻松和平静中塑造出来的。只有通过试炼和苦难，灵魂才能坚强，壮志才能激发，才能取得成功。Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
安全感多半是个假象。它在现实生活中不存在。生命要不就是个大胆的冒险，要不就没有生命。Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature.... Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
很多人对幸福的认识是错误的。取得幸福不是通过不停地满足自己的需要，而是通过对自己所负使命的忠诚。Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
从来没有一个悲观者发现过宇宙的奥秘，航行至未知的土地，或为人类的心灵开辟过一片新的视野。No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit.
不要低下头去。昂起头来，直视你面前的世界。Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.
