玫瑰色篦鹭 (Roseate Spoonbill)

星期天跟我们当地摄影小组5个老美一起去High Island 打鸟，因为其中一个以前在德州海岸线保留地工作过，对什么时候什么地点打什么鸟心里有数，在他的提议下，我们果然打到了漂亮的玫瑰色篦鹭。我们的计划是在黄昏时打，结果去的路上倾盆大雨，到了雨也停了，虽说光线平淡，也已经是阿弥陀佛了。俺还是短枪，只能是小有斩获。

Roseate Spoonbills are found mostly in Florida and coastal Texas.

Physical Description:

A brilliant pink bird with blood-red drip on the shoulders; white neck and back, orange tail; eyes ruby red or scarlet; naked head is pale green to golden buff at pairing. Straight bill with broad spatulate tip.

In 1939, only 30 spoonbills remained in Florida! Early in the 20th century their numbers were severely depleted by plume hunters, but, with protective laws, they have increased once again.
