I Can't Go Home Totay, Mom - Again, after Almost 10 Years!

Almost 10 years ago after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, I wrote this with tears falling on my keyboard. Today, feeling so helplessly sad again over another elementary school mass shooting, I couldn't write much, so I'm re-posting it.

Since Sandy Hook, I have been studying Budihism sutras, practicing veganism, and praying for a better world. But it hasn't changed much, if not worse. Another piece of my heart has gone today, with falling petals of 19 flowers of Robb Elementary School.

If there's nothing I can do
Just let my tears flow
Into rivers
Of endless sorrow

Let the rivers of sorrow flow
And quietly plow
Through all the madness
Of this desperate globe

So the flowers of the universe
Can peacefully grow

Still in shock and tears, I feel I lost a piece of my heart. It's forever gone, with the 20 very young children of Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Mom,
Today I can't go home.
A bullet ended my life,
In my first grade classroom.

By my side are 19 other tender souls.
We are now gathering above our shcool.
We don't want to leave,
Coz we still have some work to do.

Mom, I see you crying.
So is Mr. President on television.
Could you pass our message to him?
Please do something, anything.
Let every kid go to school safely
And come safely back home.
It's time for a change,
So we don't die in vain.

Christmas is coming,
But I'm leaving.
Mom, I'll miss you,
Like I always do.

History repeats itself. I heard over the radio today getting off the work that there are 27 school shootings so far this year,i.e. within 5 months. Alas!
