Another sunny day with opaque blue sky and little trace of cloud.
The trip is long overdue and highly expected. Anyway after two solid days of hard working on staining the deck, anyone would need a day of relax.
First stop is Yum Cha at the Dynasty Chinese Restaurant in Auckland CBD. We ordered spring rolls, chicken feet, rice nooddle roll with beef, dumplings, fried spicy crabs, bean curd soup, rice porridge with slices of pork and preserved egg. We literally ate until we couldn't any more. $49.00 for three is not too bad. When we walked out, the room started to get packed.
Mission Bay is allegedly not the most beautiful beach in New Zealand, but is certainly one of the most popuolar. Just ten minutes' drive from the city central, there lay the blue water and white yachts. I always dream of sneaking out the office one day and drive to the sea side to enjoy the limitless reaches of the waters, and let the thoughts fly like kites. Stress will disappear like shadows in the sun when you are in front of the vastness and freedom.
Everbody is having a good time on the beach. Girls are sun-bathing with little on; boys are playing balls; kids are on the sand, in the fountain and on the lawn; parents are preparing BBQ or teaching kids to swim. Beach is a perfect place for family activities.
Treading the water and touching the soothing sands with bare feet brought back the vivid memory of the hot summer when dad took me on a trip to the Pu-Tuo Mountain Island. Mum-in-law joined me in walking bare-foot and seemed to love the colourful shells hiden in the sand. J kept cool and stayed put. Maybe he doesn't like water, and swimming is not his cup of tea.
Ice cream from the New Zealand Natural is a nice sweet touch to finish the day trip. I picked an ice cream cone with two flavours - Macadamia nuts, and Mango with passion fruit. There were ten people in the queue before me, but the refreshing taste of the ice cream is worth the wait. J clearly said he didn't want one, but still snatched two big bites before I could have my first lick.
