Theme 1: You won’t feel too bad about yourself
David and I were passing an art gallery. “Mom, I wish I had the money to buy you that painting,” He pointed to a drawing of a very large-size woman’s naked back. “Why?” I asked. “So you won’t feel too bad about yourself,” He answered.
Theme 2: The least likely reason
In the library, Alice was playing the computer games, while I was sitting at the opposite side of her and reading my book. Suddenly, the loud speaker announced repeatedly: “Alice’s mom at the children’s section please come to the front desk!” Puzzled, I rushed to the front desk… David also came out from the bookshelves and asked me what happened. “The old librarian mistook me as a high school student and afraid that Alice’s mom left the child here went shopping,” exclaimed the flattered mother. “Mom, that was the least likely reason, but if that makes you happy, I will take it.”
Theme 3: Just your attitude
“Wow, David, I can’t believe you are so big now, I can even ware your shoes. Maybe people will think I am your sister instead of your mom one day.” “Just your attitude, mom,” David said that with a grin.
Theme 4; I would rather lick my shoes
David was reluctant to record his voice to introduce his penguin research. “I would rather lick my shoes for two hours than doing the recording,” He said to Ms. Malfi, the enrichment teacher. (Ms. Malfi said that was the finest line she heard for the year.)
