读《雪夜林边》（Robert Frost）

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound\'s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

这首诗让我想起了王维，用字浅显，几乎在白描景物。然而最后四句最妙，突然拔高，有了无限深远的意境。

诗中作者在一个万籁无声的大雪的黑夜，突然在林边停下，只为在The darkest evening of the year（一年中最漆黑的一天），To watch his woods fill up with snow。这一句翻译有点困难，fill up 的基本意思是填满，with有动态的意思，直译应该是看大雪慢慢地把树林填满，显然不好，我不知道怎么译。

最后几句的理解恐怕我跟有些人不同，如果And miles to go before I sleep（在我沉睡之前，还有很长的一段路要走），这里的沉睡，一般都认为暗喻死亡，那么The woods are lovely, dark and deep的woods，也是指死亡，它可以让你摆脱人世间的种种烦恼，不幸，而进入永恒的平静，这难道不是lovely，难道还有什么比死亡更dark和deep吗？
然而不行，But I have promises to keep（但我还有一些承诺要完成），因此我还有很长的一段路不得不走。

一般总把黑暗暗喻死亡，其实在我看来白雪更像。恐怕是我生长在南方，虽然每年能见到雪，却总是短暂。
初雪的时候最美，洁白无瑕，无声无息地满天落下，盖住一切丑陋，只是一片纯洁透明。如果能看到雪中的日出朝霞，那就是最美的了。
接下来就不行了，雪一化，更是泥泞肮脏，行走都困难。人生，初恋好像都是如此，恐怕又有人说我悲观了。

我们都是白雪，会消失无踪，都恐怕最后会变成肮脏的尘土，就像尼采所说，生命不过是通向死亡的一座桥，一个短暂的过程。然而，在这之前，我们是是不是 都have promises to keep（有一些承诺要完成），那是什么呢？
我们能做到吗？
