friendship need to maintain and manage

There are different level of friendship. Normally your close friend won't be bothered no matter who your hubby (bf) is. They will be just happy for you. If your hubby (bf) knew that those friends are very important to you, he should find his way to connect with them. Of cause you would do the same to his close friends.
For the person that you just start to build a friendship, you may pay more attention on your common interest. Now every firend you make, he/she is you and your hubby's common friend. When you keep sense the difference between you and your new friend, that's not a good way to build friendship. Bottom line not matter Chinese or none Chinese, friendship start with respect and share common interest. It need both you and your significant other to maintain and manage.
