I watched a documentary last night called The Corporation. I thought it would be the typical 90-minute affair but it ran for almost 2 and a half hours. Since I started at 10 so I didn't finish it until 1230. But it's time well-spent! Midway through the film, I actually got off the couch and took a ceramic mug out of the cabinet and put it in my work bag. Just goes to show you that this film is powerful butt-moving stuff! I have two "takeaways" from this documentary: 1. The institution called "corporation" would be a psychopath if it were a person 2. What the corporations have been doing to this planet is unsustainable by the earth and our civilization is doomed to be destroyed as a result So I elaborate now. There are characteristics that are used to diagnose a psychopath and the corporation fits all the criteria. Although the people who make up the corporation may not be all evil, the institution itself is. For example, slavery. A particular slave owner may be a really nice person but the slavery itself serves no good regardless. In addition, what's been done to our planet by the corporation is destructive but we don't realize it because the earthy resources are still more than adequate, at this point. It's like the folks who "fly" a glider off a cliff. Before he hits the ground, he thinks he's flying. But the reality is that he's free falling. Our civilization is free falling. So. I have been a pretty wasteful person myself. I have tried to modify my behaviors to be more environment conscious but convenience and money sometimes win out. I will try harder from now on. This film also gave me a new perspective of Michael Moore (he appeared in the film a few times). He's actually quite thoughtful and there's systematic thinking behind all the goofballness. You'll know what I mean when you see the film (make sure you watch it all the way till the end!). I could type up why I thought so but I have written quite so many paragraphs already so I deserve a lazy break. Cheerios.

Speaking of your "diligent break", I'm assuming that you are referring to your close of your blog. Well! I think you deserve to be scolded in the most severe manner! You are giving us Peeping Tom's a hard time. But we'll just keep staring at you until you open your door again~~
; )
BTW, I watched the movie you mentioned "the lives of others", it is a good movie, so German, and authentic.
