关于人生，权力，以及人性的瞎想

昨天在家里看 The Last King of Scotland，看完之后好像吃了一只死蚂蚁。

电影后半段有一些残暴镜头。在快到末尾的一节，我躲到几乎就要看不到电视的地方，堵住耳朵，紧闭着眼睛。

闭了一会儿，又忍不住睁开，看了血淋淋的一眼，忙不及再闭上眼睛。就这样断断续续把最让我难以忍受的部分无声地看完了。

电影是关于乌干达的独裁者 Idi Amin 的故事。剧中的一个重要人物是个虚拟的苏格兰医学院毕业生。为了逃避循规蹈矩令他窒息的家庭医生工作，他自愿去了乌干达。后来“有幸”成为 Idi Amin 的私人医生。

我想每个人年轻的时候都是有“崇高”理想的。比如要到世界的落后角落 make a difference。但是落后的地方都有其落后的原因，幼稚的理想主义永远也敌不过世井的智慧。如果再加上 loose moral，那就只好象电影里的 Nicholas 一样注定死得很难看。

但是命运又有很多 twists and turns。假如世界上真有类似 Nicholas 的人物，我很想知道他后来的人生变得如何。

在看这部电影之前，我对 Idi Amin 知道的很少。看了电影之后，我希望忘掉我所知道的。从某种程度上来讲，Idi Amin 是乌干达的毛泽东。Slaughter, massacre, wide-spread paranoia, monstrous inhuman behaviors.

Idi Amin 在任的九年期间杀了３０万人，后来在政权被掀翻之后流亡沙特阿拉伯。流亡期间曾接受访问说：他认为乌干达人民希望他回去。他可以为乌干达做更多的贡献。

我想知道的是：是权力令人丧失人性，还是没有人性的人特别追逐权利？？？

To Mr. Jiang - did not see your comments until today, sorry about that (guess I should be more careful reading my own blog!)

It took me a couple of reads to (hopefully) grasp what you said. And if I understand you correctly, you seem to be leaning toward 没有人性的人特别追逐权利 in spite of your openning caveats that humanity should not be mixed with politics.

Mind you though, war, politics anything and everything they are all derivatives of human behaviors - maybe that's because we are all from beasts, after all????

To understand human history from a humanity perspective is very different from a political perspective. Although genocide or racial cleansing should absolutely be condemned and prohibited in any circumstances, it is one of the most brutal manifestations of power struggle of each of us - we want to be superior, and we in general hate people who are better than us.

The best way to achieve the state of superiority is usually through war. If you blame Amin or Mao, you should take look at Genghis Khan and Mongols who slaughtered many more people than what Admin, Mao and Hitler had done together.

On the other hand, Machiavelli said: Some people want to rule, and some want to be ruled. Who we really are usually determines the answer for the questions you raised.

我上个星期也看了. 赫赫,非常不错的电影.觉得帅哥医生太花心,太不分轻重.

我除了东方的鬼片绝对不敢看以外,其他都照看不误. 有选择性的胆小,估计小时侯被鬼故事吓着了.

p.s. it's a good movie, well made - but not the comforting kind.

还没看过，听你这一说，这么血腥，有点打退堂鼓，我现在特怕看真实和沉重的电影，喜欢好莱坞纯娱乐片，象什么“Pirates of the Caribbean"之类的，看完之后，哈哈一乐，就得了。。。大概这是衰老的征兆？
