这首歌曲就是说的这份伤心是没有性别的。这首歌被许多人称为“分手歌” （break-up song），男女都适用。听完之后，不知为何，会有一丝会心的喜悦，也许，整个曲子其实蛮欢乐的。看着伴舞的男男女女都一色的穿着粉红（或者黑色加橘红腰带），点着猩红的口红，指尖上涂着蔻丹，随着乐曲舞动肢体，乍一看觉得不可思议，觉得好滑稽，可是听完歌曲，想，这就是歌手要听者听出的歌曲主题吧：恋爱的心情真的没有性别差异，女追男也好，男追女也好，都一样的... silly， 一样的   弱智：患得患失斤斤计较，完全失去平素的头脑眼界和聪明才智。歌曲的主题重点是：失恋和恋爱，人们的心境彼此一样，女追男，或者男追女，甚至 女追女，男追男，... 追逐的是同一样东西：爱 (it's all the same thing)。

注意到麦可森的歌曲中的伴舞服装和舞蹈动作完全是借用罗伯特帕尔默那首1988年的曲子“简直是不可抗拒”（Simply Irrisistable) 里的（那首歌曲中女性完全是被动的背景），而麦可森这首歌曲中，男女一致地在背景里有表示主动的动作和表情。这个对照也很有趣，可以看到社会上的性别意识的衍变。
