笔者家乡，就在甘肃贫困地区，由于属于贫困地区，当子女生活也很艰难时，绝大多数老人，一到六十岁，感到身体不适，或无法再使用蛮力，干繁重农活时，就都选择上吊自杀了。笔者村里的邻居夫妇，我们叫他们王伯夫妇，虽然他们生了很多子女，但由于子女，自己生活都很艰难，就于前几年，在刚上七十或七十不到时，先后上吊自杀了。 (博讯 boxun.com)
笔者的亲舅舅，由于看到自己子女，生活极艰难，为生活的琐事，与大儿子，偶然顶撞几句，便在刚上65岁的哪一年，非常绝望地上吊自杀了。
另外，还有很多属于本村的老人，都是如此选择自杀的。
关于这些方面，由于不被媒体所关注，所以长期无人所知。
