     　　世界上，流传着，好多似是而非的观点，这些观点，初看起来很有道理，很能迷惑一些人；但是，仔细一推敲，就会发现这些观点，经不起事实的检验。“中国人口太多”，就是一个流传很广的谬论，常常有人，把中国的贫穷落后，归咎于“中国人口太多”，说什么“现在中国，有13亿人口，如果中国人口，减少一半，那么人均国民收入，就会增加一倍。”真的是这样吗？我不想从理论上，驳斥这种观点，事实胜于雄辩，下面，我就让事实和数据来说话。
     　　
     　　首先，从中国人口，占世界的比例来看，自唐朝以来，中国人口，一直居世界第一位。 十九世纪初，中国人口有4亿，世界人口是12亿，中国人口，占世界的三分之一。到了二十世纪初，由于长期战乱，中国人口，仍然是4亿左右，而世界人口，增长到16亿，中国人口，占世界的四分之一。现在是2004年，中国人口为13亿，而世界人口已达64亿，中国人口，只占世界的五分之一左右。如果拿中国，与印度作对比，则中国人口的数量，减少得更快。据人口专家预测，如果，按目前中印两国的人口，增长率继续下去，到2020年，印度人口将超过中国。

     　　人口越少，就越有利于经济的发展吗？请看这一数据：西欧，是世界上人口密度，最高的地区之一，同时，又是经济最发达的地区之一；相比之下，非洲面积，3020万平方公里，相当于中国的三倍，人口仅有7.5亿，非洲的人口密度，远低于西欧，自然资源，又极为丰富，然而非洲，却是世界上，经济最落后的地区！实际上，一个国家是否富裕，与这个国家的面积大小，或人口多少，并没有必然的联系。从各国人均GDP排名，可以看出：排在前面的，既有地广人稀的国家，也有地狭人稠的国家。
     　　
     　　人口增长快，就会阻碍经济的发展吗？请看日本的例子：二战刚结束时，日本的人口，仅8，000余万人,六十年代末，日本人口突破1亿，成为世界上，人口密度最高的国家之一。日本人口的激增，并没有给日本，带来沉重的就业负担，和生态环境压力，相反，却刺激了日本经济的高速增长。八十年代以后，日本人口的增长率，持续下降，经济也步入衰退阶段。

     　　有人说：“现在失业的人很多，可见中国的人口，是太多了。”如果说存在失业，是由于人口太多，那么，为什么日本的人口，比澳大利亚多几倍，而澳大利亚的面积，是日本的二十倍，然而日本的失业率，反而比澳大利亚的还要低？在一个国家里，如果，绝大多数人，都想打工，而不想当老板，那么，即使这个国家，只有几万人，也照样会存在失业现象。一个国家，要减少失业率，最好的办法，就是实施优惠政策，鼓励更多的人当老板。
     　　
     　　可见，把中国的经济落后，归咎于人口过多，而实行“计划生育”，其原因不外两种：一是，为1949—1979年失误的经济政策，寻找替罪羊；二是，在特定年代下，“病急乱投医”的产物。
