I quit my job this summer after 15 years non-stop working.
After staying home more than 5 months, I really liked it. I like to see the happy faces when my kids come home and a hot dinner is ready for the family. I used to hire a housekeeper to cook and clean when I was working fulltime. Even the food was there, somehow my LG and kids were not happy. Me being home waiting for them seems make a big emotional difference on both kids and LG. However, sometimes, I do feel a little bit lost. I guess it may due to lack of social interaction. I don't like shopping, so stay home means lack of physical exercise too. To make that up, I bike to everywhere: grocery stores, libraries, etc.
I will stay home for at least another 6 month then will decide if I should go back to work or not. BTW, I'm working as a contractor at home but only 6 hours a day. So financially, we have little loss but family life-wise we have a lot gain.
My salute to any LG or LP out there including mine who makes this kind of mind swing possible.
While I‘m a staying home-mom。Other than being my children’s chauffeur, and family chef I got some time to burn。So I biked to local library and checked out movies (by alphabit order :-))
I have watched some good ones in the last couple of months, and enjoyed and would like to recommend all:
《Fiddler on the Roof》
〈A fish called Wanda》
〈Beautiful Mind》
〈Yi Yi》 (a Taiwainese production)
〈Seven Years in Tibet》 (too much propaganda, but still worth a look)
《Dr. Zhivago》
〈Monty Python〉(British style humor)
〈Prince of Tides〉
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
The Pianist
Seabiscuit
