Original Chinese character ‘我’ comes from 甲骨文 and 金文. The picture below illustrates transformation of this character over thousand years..Did you see a little man shoulders a weapon axe?

According to《说文解字》 , the character ‘我’  forms a human hand holding a weapon. Although other experts argued that there are two weapons against each other, no matter what, part of ‘我’ surely conveys weapon.
