Wall Decor Ideas
Successful wall displays all have one thing in common: an eye–pleasing balance of shape, size and scale. The spacing between objects is also important, because it creates rhythm and determines how each item relates to the next.

To create a display that's the highlight of a room, choose from these inspired ideas:

Mirrors

For a pretty, light–amplifying display, group a series of frameless beveled mirrors in different shapes and sizes. Hang several from a ledge for added drama, and place the rest on regular wall hooks for variety.

Arranged over a bed, a collection of antique hand mirrors becomes the focal point of a room. Unify the display by spacing them at even intervals as shown, mixing the different textures and shapes to show each mirror to best advantage.

Photos

A series of matched frames is always an appealing way to display a large collection of photographs. Add a surprise twist by overlapping several frames over the others, which puts the focus on the arrangement as a whole rather than on any one photo.

Intersperse a few black–and–white photos into a collection of framed mirrors in complementary frames. Here, the frames' variety of textures and shapes add character to the display. To keep the effect unified, limit your color palette to neutral tones.

Candlelight

Make a bold statement that sets the mood of a room by combining dramatic metalwork with candlelight. Arranged asymmetrically on the wall, these stylized iron grids draw the eye with their striking patterns.

Placed between two tall windows, a single piece can become the defining element of a room. A tall wrought–iron pillar holder like this one provides graphic impact by day, and an artful framework for candlelight by night.

Other Creative Arrangements

For a graphic, high–impact display, hang a pair of iron medallions on a blank living room wall. (During the holidays, these also act as the perfect canvas for a colorful mix of greeting cards and other festive accents.)

In a busy home office, make a virtue of necessity by wall–mounting a handsome craft center with a chalkboard front for notes and doodles. Then use the top as a surface for artwork and frames. Here, typographic letters are floated in clear glass gallery frames and leaned against the wall to create a casual, elegant display
