我最喜欢的乐团之四:The Manhattans

The Manhattans 最早是由“Blue”Lovett、Richard Taylor、Kenny Kelley、George“Smitty”Smith 和 Sonny Bivins 一起组成的五人合唱团，其中“Blue”和“Smitty”是合唱团的领唱者，Lovett 除了是合唱团的团长之外，还是一名创作者，曾为不少歌手创作并制作过唱片。

    1970年，合唱团成员发生了一些变化和调整，在这一年进入合唱团的 Gerald Alston 成为了合唱团的领唱者，他比Blue和“Smitty”更趋向为一名流行歌手，正是由于他的加入，令到 The Manhattans 合唱团有了新的改变与突破，取得了更大的成就，一首“A Million To One”让 The Manhattans 成为当时乐坛备受欢迎的合唱团体。

    从1972年开始，The Manhattans 有起来越多的歌曲出现在排行榜上面，其中最广为人知的歌曲有 One Life To Live、There Is No Me Without You、We Never Danced To A Love Song和“Hurt”，而1976年推出的单曲“Kiss And Say Goodbye”更成为当时销量第一与最佳R&B歌曲。

    时至今日，格莱美得主 The Manhattans 合唱团，仍然以他们独一无二的悦耳声音继续活跃在乐坛上，每一年他们都会在世界各地举办近100 场演出，是最受欢迎的R&B乐队之一。
