三十多年前有个美国百人合唱团访问中国，所唱的歌中就有这一首。当时他们还唱了几首中文歌：《半个月亮爬上来》以及根据范仲淹词所谱的曲《塞下秋来风景异》等。

杰里科之役是旧约圣经故事，简单说，就是约书亚带领以色列的军队攻打耶利哥城。在上帝帮助下，他们吹起号角，围城到第七天时，耶利哥城突然轰然倒塌。
