我孩子为了暑假的实习工作，不幸住进了一个蟑螂成灾的公寓，在那里住了三个月，每天和蟑螂斗智斗勇。这是孩子第一次自己一个人住一个公寓，还要独自面对一个蟑螂王国，细节就不说了，反正经常有令她震惊的新发现。
孩子自从住进那个公寓后，几乎每天都和我们讲蟑螂的问题，她集中火力讲了一个多月，甚至做起了蟑螂的噩梦。现在她终于完成实习可以搬走了。她最后一次下班时让她觉得bittersweet，舍不得离开同事们，又想尽快离开那蟑螂公寓。
一周前孩子给我的text message：
I should be given some kind of award for dealing with the roach problem.
Most mental fortitude and grace of anyone ever who has lived in this apartment.
我立即写给她的鼓励：
You used to scream when you see spiders. Now after the roach immersion, you’re able to calmly deal with and co-exist with them, this takes incredible personal strength. Basically you have transformed yourself by lifting your bug-fear away. Although you’re still disgusted by the roaches, you managed to get even with them during this long lasting battle. Here I am honored to issue you the Roach-Combat Hero Award!
孩子一看就高兴了，她的灭虫挣扎和努力被我看到了！她已经和朋友去听了一个充满乐趣的演唱会，希望她尽快淡忘这个噩梦。
