Our top 5 Fishing spots around Australia

When you are a traveller knowing the hot spots and local fishing spots can be a little tricky if you aren’t familiar with the area. We have been there and we are sure you have been too. So we thought we would put together a list of our top 5 fishing spots around Australia so next time you go on your adventure you will have some inside information!

CAIRNS - QUEENSLAND

Known for it’s tropical weather and beautiful beaches (that you can’t swim in - croc alert!) Cairns has some of the best fishing spots in Australia! Daintree river, Palm Cove, Port Douglas and Captain Cook Highway are just a few to name! ILUKA - NSW

Around a 2 and a half hour drive north of Coffs Harbour Iluka is a hidden gem. You can snap up a beautiful riverside house through airbnb or head to one of the local caravan parks and book yourself in. Anywhere along the Iluka river is usually abundant with fishing spots. To get you started our favourites are Shark Bay, Iluka Bluff, Frazers Reef and Woody Head. 

EXMOUTH - WA

Get your caravan sorted and your car serviced - if you are based on the East Coast of Australia it’s time to head over to the West. Not only are the beaches incredibly beautiful but the fishing in the Exmouth Region is one of the most popular spots in Australia. You won’t get bored with all the local activities to do and the drive over itself is absolutely stunning. Don’t get us wrong - there are parts of Australia that can be quite barron but you learn to love it in all it’s beauty. DARWIN - NT

Rated one of the top 10 fishing spots in Australia and known to be a booming City full of FIFO workers you certainly won’t regret the trip here. You can spend your time fishing around the many spots in Darwin such as Daly River, Darwin Harbour and The Roper River. Did someone say Barramundi for breakfast lunch and tea?

KANGAROO ISLAND - SA

If you are after some beautiful Blue King Tuna then you need to pack-up right now and head to the beautiful Kangaroo Island in South Australia. Surrounded by some of the most spectacular coastlines in Australia you could spend weeks, even months travelling around, fishing and enjoying the nomad life!
