@Yang Liu well I mean, the westernmost states/provinces of Canada are certainly tied via pipeline infrastructure and we certainly do the most of our trade (us being Americans) with Canadians, but what I meant was that Canada has been able to benefit a lot from a more formal relation with Britain and (at the time, pre Brexit) trade with the EU (consistent regulations go a long way), while also not having the negative reputation that comes with constantly committing so-called “police actions.” Which honestly have proven themselves over time to truly be nothing more than a fight against lesser developed governments to continue extracting cheap resources and traumatizing an entire people that, at any moment, could expect to be drone striked. Which is really quite depressing considering real people were hurt in 9/11 and yet the solution was not true compassion for victims or self reflection, but a campaign characterized by vengeance that did little to leave countries stable enough to make truly democratic reforms and self-government. All of which, has contributed to our gradual decrease in soft power especially with Europe who appears, in lame man’s terms, to be over our hypocritical a***.

Before China made large-scale investment in Africa, the western developed countries also operated in Africa for many years. I would like to ask the western developed countries some questions. Have the people of Africa established their own industrial system? Have African people solved the problem of food and fresh water? Has the transportation network (highways, railways, ports, airports) been set up on the African continent? Is Western investment in Africa free of charge? Have the problems of health care, employment and education of African people been properly solved?

No other country has throughout its history consistently had this kind of diplomacy that is centered around helping your fellow trade partners. This symbiotic relationship is very helpful to both partners, not just China. And rather than fighting pointless wars in the Middle East, this is the diplomacy America needs to follow in the 21st century if it doesn’t want to end up a footnote in history.

one important thing is no matter what is the motivation, China never forced an African country to loan money, build infrastructures, working in facotries or selling their resources. China just simply provided opportunities and whether those countries are interested or not is their own bussiness. Unlike some western countries robbed their resources and sold their people in the Africa and other continents few hundreds years ago.

This video is so interesting ,so it became my writing materials for today.
China's China reminds me of the historical textbooks in my middle school. I remembered the books saying that the China has become the world factory, the material base of western countries, because of the lagged technology. The textbooks said that structural reforms from labor intensive to technology intensive are regular and must be experienced by countries around the world.
So China is making structural reforms and one day, when the Africa is stronger, African countries must try to do the same. We wish every country in the world can finish such change successfully without any wars and invasions.

For those wondering why South Africa was shown in the map as South Africa and Namibia, it’s because, until 1990, Namibia was a province of South Africa, known as South West Africa. South West Africa was formerly owned by the German Empire, but taken from them after their loss in WWI by South Africa. From then on, it was a South African province. Of course, as the South African government was changing from the majority-white apartheid government to an African one in the late 80’s through the 90’s, South West Africa gained independence in 1990 and became Namibia.

I am Chinese and I think it's a winwin situation. But I also understand some of the concerns in the comment section. The education we received in school is that African countries helped us got in the UN and as the biggest developing country, China should help other developing countries like african countries if we can.
To our African friends who have concerns, i think it's only gonna be a winwin situation if you guys also work hard to change your motherland instead of just lying on other countries' help. It is normal to receive help from others when you are low. China received help from other country, too.
In my college there are many African students studying here. Some may stay But most of them will come home to develop their countries. I hope we can be strong together and most importantly, be independent.

Regardless of the political motivation - for every road that is built there are 100s of kids who have a better chance of a better education, for every factory that is built there are 100s of local jobs created, news skills learnt and an opportunity to upskill and improve. So maybe short term some rights to minerals etc are being lost locally (which sometimes doesnt leave the coffers of the government anyway) BUT long term the overall well being of local communities will improve.

Construction of Hambantota Port started in 2008 with loans from the IMF, western institutions and was initially managed by a Singapore firm. The BRI initiative was started in 2013, The Singapore company gave up the management rights. In 2016, the newly-elected government decided to privatise an 80% stake of the port to raise foreign exchange in order to repay maturing sovereign bonds unrelated to the port. Of the two bidding companies, China Merchants Port was chosen, which was to pay US$1.12 billion to Sri Lanka and spend additional amounts to develop the port into full operation. In July 2017, the agreement was signed, but CMPort was allowed a 70% stake. Simultaneously a 99-year lease on the port was granted to CMPort. Note that China only accounts for 10% of Sri Lanka loans. Western media has been running a smear campaign against China based upon false information

Just leave moral factors away temporarily, in terms of benifit, you can get to understand that it's far better than Westeners' slave trade, at least it is beneficial to both sides. Africans get more improved life quality, while China get money (or you can also call it capital)along with reputation among the third world.
I don't know what those so-called debt traps mean. They, Africans, need basic fractures, which need money, which need loan, which need pay back, and if they don't choose China, they can still choose others or none. No matter how undeveploped Africa is, Africans themselves can make sense.
As for imperialism and corruption, let's assume that they are true, it's up to their own government. to properly avoid these political risks is a required course for every qualified governments, not for we foreigners.

Most Western countries have ignored large slabs of the developing world for decades - unless a country has oil or some other resource, it's invisible to everyone except NGO bods. China clearly saw an opportunity and now the West asks 'what happened while we ignored you ?' - we have a similar situation downunder with small Pacific nations that could easily host military bases. Uh-oh.

While the amounts China is investing and loaning African nations seem low that money has more value there. Local labor was used to build those projects and they received low pay, but earned more than they would have otherwise. This is going to be interesting.

Although I'm late to the party I just want to share a bit of personal opinion from an aspect that people seldomly talk about, especially in Youtube comments (where a large amount of audience might be at least holding a grudge against China but doesn't understand the country very well), that is "Why is China 'helping' Africa".
China has on one hand benefitted hugely from joining the global economic supply chain and progressed massively in its industrialization. On the other hand, while that may sound wonderful at first, the unavoidable accompanying consequence is overproduction. When dealing with overproduction, there are generally two ways. One is to "go with the tide", cut production, in which case you might end up with massive amounts of unemployment, leading to economical and probably political/social crisis. The other way is to somehow find new demand that consumes the overproduced products. In other words, you need new consumers, new incentives .
China took the second route. China is helping Africa (same can probably also be said about the Belt Road Initiative) so that they can create jobs for the young people there, and once young people are employed and paid, they have money to buy things and consume. China is using the money they earned in the global trades, especially from developed countries (US is probably the biggest one amongst them) to invest in Africa to not only build up infrastructures, which will be good for African economy in the long term, but also simply to "fund" the first wave of African young generation (through job employment and payroll) so that the consumption power there can start to grow. This can also be seen from that China is actually relieving a large amount of these African country debts starting from several years ago, since its purpose was never to benefit from these investments in the beginning.
I think what's different between China's approach and other countries' previous approach is that China is seeking the value of the people there within this whole global economic system. The people who came before, namely the European colonizers and later the US transnational corporations, mostly sought out the value of the resources and they aim to do it at the lowest cost and gain the most benefits. I will set ideologies aside and refrain from judging the different approaches from a value (as in sense of values) perspective, but the people in Africa will definitely feel which one is better for them.

China seems on this basis to be ahead of the curve based on the progress Africa is making, yet i cant but help think the wider issues it faces like lack of rule of law and political stability cant help but play into hindering its economic development and growth and this would play far more then into China and its interests then that of the UK or the USA which i think the UK would be interested more in the forerunners and not within the whole continent within its economic interests but those it stands the best chances with.

Facts speak louder than words. For those countries that believe in Western democracy and freedom and follow in the footsteps of the West, those countries that believe in China's win-win investment and learn from the Chinese model, you can compare the status quo of these countries. The facts will tell everything, and the facts will not be falsified.

As a South African we need better leaders. Unfortunately the major political parties such as the ANC, DA and EFF are the only ones we have experience with. Spoiler they're all horrible but they're the only ones people are familiar with, this causes other small political parties into small corners and now people are forced to choose between these three horrid political parties that do not care about the people. I'm just a teenager and this has been pounded into my head as soon as I was cable of thinking critically. I'm privileged to be able to even have the resources to comment online as a black South African. I would wish for this privilege to stay and for it to spread but the ANC, DA and especially EFF just don't care. We've been robbed of billions of rands and opportunities because politicians keep money laundering and when are caught move to other countries. Africa needs better leaders above all else, what's the point of moving China out if we'll have people who will take advantage of the people. I don't want unstable leaders who create unstable environments.

Towards the end, this video basically says: "Now that China has done all the hard work of helping Africa's industrialization to take off, western companies should establish themselves throughout Africa." Nothing wrong with that, but why all the hate against China in the first place? Apparently the Chinese knew what they were doing, and they are doing an excellent job. Why was the West unable to realize Africa's industrialization in the past 50 years ? Also, there is talk about human rights, but industrialization is the biggest human right there is; all human beings have the right to live in dignity and prosperity. Poverty and underdevelopment is a crime against humanity.

I am from the US, and I just want to say that many of us here are happy that Africa is getting help in the right way. Yes many people here are big scaredy cats who are afraid of power shifting, but most of us are decent human beings who want the best for others all around the globe. We roar every year to help others, but with media confusion and a lot of corrupt politicians; our actions look very different. I just hope people will not think every American is a monster, because a lot of us don't think that way about any of you. Our country is very divided for many reasons, so we have a lot of problems to work on. There is good and bad people in every country, and usually the bad ones make it to the spotlight while the good remain invisible.
Take care.

I think its a good thing. Very impressive to see China doing these projects. No doubt the cost if done by the US or Europe would cost 3x as much. China is proving to be a world leader, not just a taker. They are giving back. It's a great thing. Maybe they can be more successful in bring economic and political stability to Africa.
Not everything China does can be without criticism but there is much to be happy about. As an American this does not bother me in the least. In fact, it is refreshing to see someone other than the U.S. financing these kinds of projects. An up and.coming Africa is good for the whole world. I hope to see China do what no other country can or will do...attack the real warming cause...desertification. They are pioneering that process now.

and another thing for China fam, there is still a lot / huge potential as far as development is concered. there have been so many products and services created, that not instead of the focus to b e on creating more; what needs to be done is to simply internalise the focus. so instead of developing more, now what needs to be done is connecting whats already there and also bettering the current way what's exists / how it operates.. and also how it is operated.. this is why co-operation between all allies globally is imperative constantly, and not just on, for example the current twice a year meeting of nations. our alignment of visions and goals needs to constantly be synched so that we all understand how eachother feels as a people , because only then will be able to make it better, how will we be able to make things better if we cannot understand/ see it? so a fundamental paradigm shift is taking place globally where consciousness is being brought back down to us at "ground level , where we realise we all have choices and options and are able to better the lives of not only ourselves, but citizens across this planet.

That's the reason why nobody but China, specifically its government, is interested in Africa. Decades of time may seem long for a single person but not so much for a country.

As an african the way I see it, China is investing in Africa as its sees potential in Africa.. no wonder most of the fastest growing economies lay in Africa. They aren’t giving foreign aid with high interest rates like the west but rather building infrastructure with no interest, like from my country Ethiopia they built the first metro in all of sub Saharan Africa which in itself generates revenue to the government...

Africa-China relationship is a win-win. China got money, technology and building power, which can help Africa to improve infrastructure and get ready for economy boom. Africa got natural resource, cheap labor, and political influence that can help China economically and politically. A more important reason that Africa and China get along is that both were robbed by western countries before, they understand each other's pain, and don't trust western countries.

I am, continually, amazed by China's Xi Xing Ping. This is the most amazing individual I have ever seen. Dollar diplomacy was always the USA's policy. However, I have continually said that no one should ever stay in debt to anyone. This deal allows the Chinese to hire low cost labor and lead the world in production. Africans are not being hurt by this deal.

Living in Ethiopia and traveling to many Eastern African nations for a year, I have seen so many opportunities that China has brought to the country. What many western media describe as traps through its colonial and singular mindset. It's a WIN-WIN to both Africa and China. China has managed to lift nearly 900 million people out of poverty in three decades and turned the nation to an industrialized country. This is the most recent and the outstanding example that African nations could follow. Chinese corporations, both public and private, venture to Africa while I hardly see any US or European corporations put Africa as priority.
I am seeing Africa with bright future. If the West, which colonized Africa for centuries, truly concerns about China's presence, then step up your efforts. Lip services and criticism won't bring food on the table

Yes China is a successful, powerful, and organized civilization, so naturally many people are jealous and some haters come from the West which is in decline. Africa hopefully will be treated better by China and I hope Africa can develop fast like China has, where millions and millions of people were raised from poverty in the last 40 years. They should get more credit for this fact. Still waiting for my cheque.

Interesting video. Two points seem to stick out to me, though.
First, the economical activities related with chinese presence and investment in african countries seem, at least in part, significantly different than those related with previous european colonial domination, focused on extractivist activities directed towards foreign markets, where as chinese investment seems focused largely on infrastructure projects, often of interest to the local government and economy. So even if we accept that China is, of course, interested in expanding its sphere of influence and often getting direct economic benefits, the equating of this to european colonialism seems to need further argument, as China's presence is clearly of a different form (even without getting into the obvious political differences) than the colonial system. Perhaps a more in depth analysis of the relations between africans nations and the countries of the global north and the forms that colonial exploitation took in the aftermath of nominal political independence may strenghten the association, but without such a thing the argument seems fundamentally flawed.
Secondly, it seems either a bit naive or, worst, disingenuous to imply that it is the commitment to matters like human rights by organizations like the IMF that leads countries to favour financial deals with China rather than those "western" entities. These organizations are notable for imposing serious conditions on the economic and administrative policies of nations borrowing from them, notably, following the economical crisis afflicting many countries around the world in the last 10+ years, austerity measures, directly in contrast to the interests of national governments looking to fuel economic activity through state investment.
More care with these two points would be best so as to avoid the trap (I'd say generally avoided by the video with success) of uncritically repeating propagandistic narratives motivated by political interests, a feature which is most definitely not limited to the chinese government.

At first i liked the video but when you compared China's investment in Africa to colonialism you lost me. European colonialism was terrible. The Europeans only care in the colonies they make was to resettle their own people while subjugating the natives. What the colonial powers did cannot be compared to what China is doing right now, China is doing exactly what the United states has been doing since WW2. Investing in foreign nations.
China is doing lots of good to the African nations and its people at moment and we don't care what their motives are. Of course they have a hidden motive, no sovereign nation would invest huge amounts of money into foreign nations simply out of the good of their hearts. But if the results of these investments would improve the lively hood of the African people, then who are you to challenge this phenomenon? In fact, if the world (not just China) invested the same way into Africa then within a few short decades African nations will have been modernized and now the world will have no source for cheap labor. Which would in turn force industries to find an alternative to produce their goods.
Africa, as you mentioned, was colonized by the Europeans more than a 100 years ago and yet only a handful of African nations have successfully developed into a modernized nation. Why then didn't the West invest in Africa? they had a century to do that and yet they never bothered. The fact of the matter is, western powers would rather have Africa keep its stereotypical poor and impoverished image; and it seems to me that you are simply trying to find all the negatives to anything China is doing.

I know how western countries think about what China does in Africa now. But actually China doesn’t really care about that. We Chinese are educated that African are our brothers who helped us since we were a really poor country before during 1960s. So it’s time now for us to do our best helping them out from the poverty. Thank you African brothers, I still hope your lives will be better in the future with our own hands together.

Here in Panama, the previous President was in bed with China. He always visited Mr. Xi or viceversa. After years of supporting Taiwan, they finally sided with People's Republic of China in 2017. The same is happening with Africa and Australia. They proposed building a 4th lock in the Canal as a railway that connected basically the whole country. I don't know what this government will do about China after the coronavirus.

The western world was "kind". They donate food, cloth, and something else they don't need or extra things or their used stuff to underdeveloped countries. They help you, but they just help you stay at the level where you just can survive, you cannot become stronger by yourself under their help. It makes you just like a tool to show how they are kind. But China helps you build the infrastructures (school, Traffic system, hospital..... ) gives you the technologies, and helps your people get education opportunities in China to study technology. With Chinses help you can develop your own economy and you can be stronger by yourself.

Basically summarised most African governments were initially left with nothing from their former colonial overlords so their economy couldn't grow and they needed money this is why they are economically integrated into china because china loans them money and when those same countries can't pay it back along with interest rates that come with it - Chinese companies privately purchase what they built with their money ie ports, skyscrapers, etc this makes less of a country and more of china.

That’s how they justify paying the Ethiopian worker 1/3 salary Chinese would get. All this after closing farms (handicapping families) to build their factories. Many other places they don’t even have government approval (illegal mines) or they don’t even hire locals. It’s very obvious what they are doing (not planning). Wake up!

The sad thing about this is that the majority of the projects haven't shown any profitable result, and Africa has a lot of debt they can even pay it, so china propose to lease parts of lands for years to reduce the payment, usually for 90 years, and when china make the loans they decide to accept only if the project is made by a Chinese company so they usually retrieve the money when the project is finished and this is partly because of the overrun they generate on a project, they start at 1 billion and end at 3 billion

China is being smarter than the US and Europe. China figured out "If we can ensure that a country is stable, we can use it as a customer base and vendor.". They also figured out that investing in infrastructure is more economically sound than pointless wars.

One large difference between Chinese and other Aid agencies - Chinese employ a lot of their own people. You may not see them - they are at work - or in their own accomodation. They may not employ a lot of local inhabitants. In addition, once they get bit entrenched, they start to take over local jobs - truck drivers etc. The belt and roads program has spent a lot of money in places it was needed. Sometimes the Government has been corrupted and received bribes to undertake such works. Maybe it is win: win :win. China wins, politicians and general public win.

Basically, China is betting on Africa's future for its own future. Only if African countries benefit from these large-scale projects will they be able to pay back their debt. Plus, China didn't plan on earning much of anything from these projects directly, as the interest rates were so low. China hopes that these infrastructure projects will transform and upgrade the whole society so that they become relatively well-off and be able to trade and make more money in the future - to buy Chinese goods.

Soft Power is a legitimate tool that China is using. Sad to say that while their generosity is not without a cache it is more than the U.S. is doing. Employing all these people and building infrastructure is greatly helpful to these economies. The U.S. may have to start a similar process to remain a hegemonic power.

My favorite part is comparing Chinese economic relationships with Africa as "colonialism". Then why isn't any other economic relationship "colonialism"? Did America "colonialist" China by setting up factories there? Here's the big difference:
1) colonialism by western powers was done by Military Power. You did what they wanted or they shot you in the face.
2. Chinese and African relationships are Voluntary Economic relationships. They came to terms mutually, and African nations are free to stop doing business China at anytime without getting shot in the face.

Another interesting thing to mentions is that. what China is doing to Africa is largely replicating what Japen, U.S., and a whole bunch of other countries did to China during the 1970s and 80s. During those times, China was the place where foreign investments, loans and aids would pour in, where the developed countries would receive the benefits of natural resources and labour while China receives capital goods and financial assistance. An example is Japan's investment in China's first oil project in what was called the "Daqing Oil field". China utilised foreign investment to upgrade its infrastructure and kickstart its economy. Now that China is replicating what was done by the western power to it, all the western countries began to pull a Pikachu face......

What the United States and some Western countries hope is that Africa will be poor forever, without development at all. So when China brings investment to the local area, the United States calls it a debt trap. If China provides loans to African countries to help local construction is a debt trap, then ask the United States or the United Kingdom to contribute funds to help Africa build infrastructure.

In my honest opinion, I see this as a good thing. China's developments in Africa could translate to higher GDP growth rate and better standard of living for africans. In a few decades, Africa could have the same standard of living as China has today. The continent is walking on the same path China took back in late 1970s. It turned out well for China in the last 50 years. I have high hopes that it'll be good for Africa in the next 50 years too.

Greetings good people!! From I WANT IT NOW NEWS!!
Once again There's a scramble for Africa with the emergence of new premier league teams as well as the older club members we have grown to know through out history.
And now that the Chosen has finally come off the bench after a 400 year suspension. Things really are hotting up this season.
Let's move to our African correspondent to see if we can gain insight and any further developments into the up and coming tournament!!
IWIN "NEWS" Good morning,
MR TAGG00 (Africa'S news agency)
And how are things with you
on this bright illustrious morning
MR TAGG00
(African correspondent).

MR TAGG00
err...yess.. yes... sure.... as you have mentioned new premiere league team are competing in this tournament.
Infact China as mobilized their players already and have taken up prime locations.
IWIN "NEWS"
Interesting how do you think China will fair being that this is their first tournament on this grand of scale??
MR TAGG00
(African correspondent).
err... yeess.... yess.... sure.... this is china first major tournament. But no expense has been spared. They have air lifted whole entire Flat packed towns and cities15 times the size of Europe during the night to facilitate and accommodate their key workers.
IWIN "NEWS"
Mr TAGGOO do you think that at some point we can gain access to the 800 million square mile complex. And maybe even at some point conduct an interview????
I've also notice that they have brought their armywith them. Infact they seem to be quite Heavily armed?? Five nuclear warheads, 500 warships, 5000 jet fighters, 900 million military personnel,3000 tanks and a new Island the size of 25 Madagascar's that has just popped up overnight on satellite.

No one talks about European companies in Africa. But lots of people talk about a new country in Africa. Is it because that new country touched many people's cake or is it because the locals are used to live with their old neighbors? At least this new country can make both the locals and itself richer, unlike the locals' old neighbors.

They're lending money to countries the West doesn't lend money to, because they're perceived to be unstable and too risky. But China's got a lot of money now and they can afford to get into risky deals (or at least that's what they think). China knows their current situation won't last forever. Their population is getting old and the demographic pyramid is reversing (just like in any developed country). So they know they can't rely on their vast numbers of working age people to last forever, plus they're getting richer now and aren't happy to work for as little as they did before. Thus they're exporting the manufacturing to Africa. One thing China is forgetting is that most African countries are politically unstable and very risky to loan to ex. Tanzania's previous regime signed a $10 bil loan deal but the current regime refuses to accept the deal, China will have to deal with this kind of issues. Also I believe most countries that owe China money will use the corona virus excuse not to pay China. Good luck China

I have to say some Chinese in Africa sound impolite, especially older generation to younger generation, employers to employees. That is a very typical eastern cultural thing that young people should look up old people, employees should absolutely obey employers. If anyone met this situation and feel uncomfortable, please speak out for yourselves, we should respect the local culture and people.

Roads, bridges, schools, dams, power plants and other infrastructure are tools for fishing.

correct utilisation, in a budget/ structured format with clear co-operated projections that have been counselled / agreed upon by vote is not the same as exploitation "" of people/ resources or anything. infact what is occuring is the opposite. exploitation doesn't only have a negative connotation, the doing of it is negative, whereas development comprises of using resources in order to make life better. not using what nature makes just to create money . that's the difference between building and development

Let’s recall that colonialism actually happened in Africa before you call it colonialism. Africa is under developed because of it. As far as I can tell, actually building infrastructure like dams and roads is helping locals to develop, and of course China should make profit off of it. In modern era, every country has its sovereignty. Africa can of course reject every deal from China. But they still take it despite China is taking so many capitals and resources from it. To be honest, one must think independently because news is almost certainly sensationalized as long as it involves sensitive topics. Africa may be underdeveloped and people there may not be as educated, they are not stupid when it comes to making decisions like this.

This is what I believe. We pull out from trade with China and begin focusing on building and trading with the south American countries. By doing this, we can solve the drug and immigration issue, and we can stop funding a country who doesnt even keep great relations with us.
After setting things up, shipping and costs will DROP and we will become even stronger as the United Americas.

The typical Western view is full of jealousy odor...I just want to say that the people of Africa know what they need most and they have enough wisdom to discern who is a true friend

An old saying in China: There’s no free food in the world. China is helping Africa, also helping itself. It’s quite different from what western countries did in China a century ago, who just looted and destroyed China.

I believe that the only witness to testify the result of China's assistance is time. In my opinion, ture dignity comes from economic status, and China is trying their best to be the catalyst. If Africa is always the poorest continent in the world And have a long gap between America and Europe , how can we say that the Africans have their factual rights to speak up for their own countries? By far , it is the strong and developed countries who are creating Africans to show their opinions. The interest of the Africans themselves can not be represented in these platforms. If we want to create a world which is fair, We need to change Africa first economically. That's the base of everything. Africa is not the stage for the developed countries to compete. She has the right to develop herself. As China has made a miracle to exorcise extreme poverty totally in its own land, I believe that China also have the experience to take Africa out of the swamp. ??

Just don't think that other western countries are not doing this..
Infact, they will go through this colonialism and racial/national segregation even if it means war.
At least China is not waging war over the world.

It is ridiculous that a lot of people use democracy to attack China. Democracy should be the result of development, not the cause. China has the institutional advantage of doing things efficiently, much like Singapore. The government is for the good of the people. The people have really improved. That's the real thing.

It's fine that China is helping Africa but these African countries needs a leader to properly make use of what China is giving to be self-reliant and be a stronger country -- to stop being reliant on any country.

China needs Africa's natural resources to provide the raw materials for it's factories and land to grow the crops to feed it's own people; it's strategy is to bring the independent largely rural African population into the cities to create consumers for their products made in China; not withstanding, the contribution Chinese investment in large scale civil engineering projects have made to urban and interurban infrastructure.

It is quite difficult for me to understand this as the bigger picture. Some say that China is the bad guy here by introducing these loans and taking over the continent, some say that the African leaders are the bad guys by accepting these loans. Why is this a different situation than for example the World Bank loan? How will this eventually turn out for Africa as a whole? Please enlighten me, with resources.

The Xiānbēi and the Yemaeks of the Ju?en are descendants of Gojoseon. The meaning is the same. The meaning is the same. The Manchu(滿洲族) and Yemaek(濊貊族) are brothers. Therefore, Koreans, Japanese, and Manchus are Tungus brotherhood.(兄弟姉妹). Less than 100 Chinese ruled Manchuria.Manchuria belongs to the Manchus and Koreans. China must return Manchuria to the Manchu and the Korean and the Mongolian.

Isn't it better to get African people to work and then give them money (food and clothing) rather than giving corrupt politicians hold of all the food and clothing that is being sent for the people ?
I may be missing something but this sounds like a good plan.... to not let the aid money just get stashed in some foreign bank account.

It's business, right?
I really don't understand there are a lot of people are saying some rediculous things.
Business, it's win -win.
How can a nation help another nation totally free?
And ho can you expect others will help you for free?
What you said made me think like : China can't take anything from out Africa, they can just build and go "
Whereas you need the help but don't want to share?
No pain No gain.
At least, it's just a kind of exchange, you got what you want, they got what they want. It's fair .
You talked about resources they took from you, but in the meanwhile they build everything for you. What do u want them take? You just want them build and leave?
That's not business.
China, do business.
Westerns(not all ), sometimes additional things, involving your political issues.

Its only a matter of time before you see China being the heavyweight of the economy of the world. China is doing something that most western nations cannot do to African Nations. If you know you lack something and your neighbour is ready to help, why don't you grab the opportunity at hand, so l don't see any harm that will come upon African States who are launching deals with China.. Personally I think the partnership of Africa and China is growing big and that is a smart thing considering the help that we get from them.......................Magical China welcome to Magical Kenya.

The west is strong when China can't export, but will the west help build facilities and investment in Africa? When China helps Africa build infrastructure and investment, the west accuses and criticizes China's behavior in Africa. In this case, the west will help Africa with concrete actions instead of words.

China is doing what real Communist countries are supposed to do help less successful countries develop. Cuba does what it can by giving great health care. What is happening is a Communist country has shown how to make Capitalism actually work. It does that by giving the Carrot without a stick. No bombing or toppling governments necessary. Of course China is rewarding loyalty. Africa is able to understand that having a loyal friend like China is a way to ride with the success of China. If China is doing what it is I would say great news.

The colonialism is nothing like the China's motivation beheind its growing economical influence. Those colonialist countries seeked to sap the strengths of weak to feed their own power, which has been an antiquated way of dealing with diplomacy tody. I suggest that an episode titled "how the world has become America's world" could be more meaningful.
