Hands (to Father)

 

I want to stay ahead of you, to embrace death.

I retaliate you - a rural artist,

an expert of clay sculpture.

When you sculpted me,

you crippled my body.  

Even though you carved out you rib and placed it in my leg,

I can’t walk as normal.

Please clench your teeth, pull off all my hairs, and wear them on your head,

so my pain and hatred will wave on your head forever,

so you won’t enjoy the glory brought by white hairs in your eighties. 

Then you use your root-like hands, earth up my grave,

then, please walk far far away and don’t hold a memorial for me,

don’t pull off fresh grass on my grave. 

In my next life, I don’t want be your daughter, 

even if my only other choice is

a watchdog.

我要报复你——乡村的艺术家， 

玩泥巴的高手 

捏我时 

捏了个跛足的人儿 

哪怕后来你剃下肋骨做我的腿 

我也无法正常行走 

请你咬紧牙关，拔光我的头发，戴在你头上 

让我的苦恨永久在你头上飘 

让你直到七老八十也享受不到白头发的荣耀 

然后用你树根一样的手，培我的坟 

然后，请你远远地走开不要祭奠我 

不要拔我坟头新长的草 

来生，不会再做你的女儿 

哪怕做一条
