浴室里的葬礼 ——A Funeral in the Bathroom

 

这首诗是几年前陪孩子们读书时看到的，非常风趣，我一直念念不忘。最近又找出来看了一遍，然后试着把它译成中文。

 

A Funeral in the Bathroom 浴室里的葬礼

Tears in the bathroom, 在浴室里强忍泪水，

Time to say goodbye 告别的时刻就要到来，

To a chubby little fish – 对着一只可爱的小肥鱼，

We called him Pudgy Pie. 我们叫他胖胖派。

 

We could almost hear him say, 好像还能听到他在叫

“This fish food is so good! ‘这鱼食真的好吃，

It’s my ice cream and pizza pie!” 那是我的冰淇淋和披萨！’

Oh, how he loved his food! 哦，他是多么地热爱美食！

 

But here beside the toilet, 但是站在马桶旁边，

We try to decide. 我们想要明白：

Dis Pudgy eat too much, 是不是胖胖派吃得太多，

Is this why he died? 所以他才歇菜？

 

We placed him on the water 我们把他放进水里，

amid a gentle hush. 荡起了微微涟漪。

Then we push the handle, 然后我们按下把手，

And the toilet starts to flush. 马桶开始冲洗。

 

Pudgy’s back in water. 胖胖派又回到水中。

Oh, how he loved to swim! 哦，他是多么热爱游泳！

And here in the toilet, 现在他就在马桶里，

He takes his final spin. 旋转，进行最后的致意。

 

One last exciting whirl, 再来一个欢快的漩涡，

before he must move on. 然后他就要继续。

And then in one giant gulp, 随着一声响亮的吸气，

Our little fish is gone. 我们的小鱼已经离去。
