开始找工作 - day 6

妈妈回国了，婆婆到了，紧迫感加强。也开始思考没有经验如何找会计工作。

今天收到第一份拒信，没有面试机会呀。

 

搜到以下建议，还是很值得借鉴的，也许要先找些即使没pay的工作，先累计经验。

Step 1

Complete your high school or general education studies. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employers prefer that applicants without prior accounting work experience have a certain level of formal academic study. Additionally, if you don’t have an offline or online post-secondary education, pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree, or coursework in accounting, auditing, finance, taxation or business.

Step 2

Work as a paid or unpaid intern in a company's accounting department, an accounting firm, private Certified Public Account office or related business, such as a tax office, to gain practical experience and job networking opportunities. If you can’t get an internship, offer your time as a volunteer helping a local non-profit organization, such as a church or fundraiser, handling financial transactions or accounts to gain experience.

Step 3

Apply for a different type of job that matches your skills, education and background at a company where on-site training or education reimbursement opportunities for career advancement exist. If you already have a job at a company offering a current or future accounting position that interests you, speak with your direct supervisor or human resources about the steps you need to take to one day get that job.

Step 4

Review your work history of non-accounting positions for instances when you handled or managed financial transactions or accounts, such as during work as a phone-based customer service representative, retail cashier, restaurant waitress or office secretary. Emphasize these duties on your resume and during the interview to show that, although you’ve never worked in an accounting position, you do have previous experience with accounting.

Step 5

Promote transferable skills and traits, as well as any that match requirements for the accounting job -- even if you don't have all of the ones requested. Some employers will disregard a lack of work experience if an applicant has a solid academic background in accounting and enough specific traits and skills the employer deems important, such as a friendly personality, detail-oriented mind or strong organization, mathematics or communication skills.

其实我倒觉得volunteer的会计工作到不比正常工作好找呢，呵呵，人家看你条件那么好，又不要钱，人家不敢用你呢：）。其实你的想法我一开始找会计工作的时候都有过，我才这么说的。但事情不是一成不变的，看你怎么把事情说的make sense了。
对了，除了你前面说的找工网站，careerbuilder，craiglist都是不错的招工网站。indeed好像更偏重高科技工程师什么的，说的不对别见怪啊。
