Nostalgia Vintage Apparel and Market Place hosts Fashion Museum
Education is the plan Carolyn Miller, owner of Nostalgia Vintage Apparel and Market Place, has in mind for others as she opens her Fashion Museum on the second floor of her business.
Miller said she plans to host four shows a year with the first theme, “Remember Dresses,” covering 100 years of dress fashion.
“The way my museum is going to work, it’s about fashion, but it’s using fashion as a way of looking at history,” she noted. “That’s always kind of my goal, when I do an exhibit or a program. Just another form of looking at history. Hopefully it’s very educational.”
Remember Dresses,” which will remain up until Feb. 10, will span dress fashions from the 1880s to the 1980s. Miller said she chose the theme because so many women don’t wear dresses anymore.
“So, this will represent 100 years of dresses, which were kind of a staple in fashion,” she added.
Visitors on Dec. 1 will be able to take a self-guided tour beginning with the Victorian period and ending with an exhibit of women’s coat styles.
