最美艾蒂娅---Ada’s Prayers

Life Group

Every Sunday, I would like to go to church to organize my thoughts, remove my weakness, drop my negative baggage, and turn the dark side to the sunny side in order to focus my energy on a significant thing.

Ada is our life group leader. Last month, the  group has held a fantastic Progressive Dinner. Ada has been thinking about it all week. The appetizers, main course and desserts were served in three families’ houses, respectively. Members all got to know one another so much better. 

Unfortunately, we were not able to attend the dinner because our car was out of order. The brake needed to be replaced. Before, I sent a email to Ada to let her know, “We will not be able to attend the dinner, since my husband has to fix our car. Sorry about the absence. We wish everyone has a joyful, happy and wonderful time.”

Ada replied me, “Thank you for letting us know that you will not be attending. Been praying today for wisdom as you fix your car. You will both be missed greatly.”

We were very grateful for such warm words. It reminded us that we have not attended this kind of life group for ten years. Last month, we were invited to this life group for Bible study. Ada and others paid very special care of us. We really appreciated their greetings.

Prayer for Car Repairman

Once new brakes were installed, my husband was confident of the car being fixed and immediately drove on the free way. One of the brake was suddenly lost pressure so that the car could not be stopped. We were so nervous that our hearts beat fast. Thanks God! Finally, he pulled the car out of the road. 

Next day at the group, I wrote a prayer request: “Pray for husband’s attention. Please don’t drive a just repaired car on a highway without trying it on a local street. Never put our life on a risk.”

Ada has modified it and put it on the prayer sheet like this, “Esther asks prayer for wisdom & understanding for her husband in working on their car. Also, that the car would operate fantastically after he gets done.”

Comparing two players, it can be seen the difference. My prayer is composed of plain words and looks like more directly. But, Ada’s prayer is full of literature words and looks like more gently. Same kind of thing, but different description. I like Ada’s prayer. I am lucky to join her group and can learn how to manage my tongue and soften my tune in English. She is my role model.

Prayer for a Vacation

Last week we would not be available to go to church because of summer vacation travel. The week before the last week, I let Ada know, “We are going to take a vacation. We are planning on flying to David & Jenny home in PA. We are very excited because we have not seen each other for 10 years and hope to see all of their family members.”  

Ada put a prayer on the sheet, “Esther asks prayer as they are on vacation in PA seeing their friends.” When I saw the prayer by email she sent to me. In that time, it was my turn to miss Ada. 

So far, Ada is still busy with organization of life group activities. I hope Ada will take time to vacation and see family members in Montana this Summer.
