to the Blue Jays. Bautista had a pair

DUNEDIN, Fla. Jack Youngblood Elite Jersey . -- Cliff Lee said he had just about everything going for him Thursday -- except for Toronto slugger Jose Bautista. "Take Bautista out of the game and it was really good," the Phillies left-hander after striking out seven over six innings in the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0 loss to the Blue Jays. Bautista had a pair of doubles and scored Torontos first run. "Hes a good hitter," Lee said. "Hes really good at picking up sequences on what youre trying to do to him. Both the hits he got were really good pitches. Ill take both of them all day. Lee survived the first inning, striking out the side, two strikeouts coming after Kelly Johnson singled and Bautista doubled to right. But in the fourth Bautista stole third after his leadoff double and Adam Lind singled him home. Lee threw 75 pitches, 53 for strikes, over his six innings. "I felt good. ... I felt I couldve kept going easy but ... I want to build up and get headed in the right direction," he said. "Im just trying to get my pitches where I want to be, to be able to throw any pitch in any count. Im just locating my pitches. Its really that simple." He said he was throwing for contact, not for strikeouts. But the swings and misses by the Blue Jays "says youve got some deception and, for the most part, throwing strikes that are hard to hit. Im not trying to strike anybody out. It just happens." The Blue Jays other run came in the eighth when centre fielder Scott Podsednik misplayed Travis Sniders flyball and Kelly Johnson doubled to right. Torontos Brandon Morrow outpitched Lee, giving up one hit, a single by Carlos Ruiz with one out in the fifth, and a pair of second-inning walks. He threw 59 pitches in five innings. "Thats something that I set out to do, was to improve my pitches per inning and go deeper in games," Morrow said. "Its definitely encouraging, I had to go down to the bullpen to throw 15 more to get my pitch count up. "Im thinking through at-bats and watching the way (hitters are) reacting to balls and calling a little bit more of my own game," he said. "All positives." The Phillies had four hits in all and got only two runners as far as third base en route to their third spring shutout loss. "Every day youve got to hit," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said, sounding not the least bit perturbed. " I put stock in it every ... day -- spring training, Little League, it dont matter. Every day. Thats why we come (to spring training). We dont come to get shut out, but it happens sometimes but well come back and try to do better." NOTES: Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco, out since Saturday with a sprained left ring finger, took batting practice and Manuel said he could be back in the lineup "over the next couple of days, hopefully two or three days. Hes close." ... Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie may return to the lineup Saturday against the visiting Braves, manager John Farrell said. Lawrie is recovering from tightness in his left groin that caused him to leave last Fridays game against Tampa Bay. ... The Phillies will start Vance Worley (1-1, 1.80 ERA) Friday against Hiroki Kuroda (1-1, 4.00) and the visiting Yankees split squad. ... Brett Cecil (3-0, 0.90) will start Friday for Toronto against David Price (0-0, 5.40) for the host Rays at Port Charlotte. Sam Bradford Jersey . Lee doubled and scored in his debut, Buerhle struck out a season-best eight over 7 2-3 innings and Miami beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 Thursday to split the four-game series. Tavon Austin Jersey For Sale . -- After enjoying the chance to watch Toronto beat Anaheim, the San Jose Sharks took advantage of a tired Maple Leafs team to move closer to the Ducks in the standings.CHICAGO -- The special teams have been awful. The faceoff circle has been a huge problem. Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp have combined for one goal for the Chicago Blackhawks. The defending Stanley Cup champions are in big trouble in the Western Conference final, down 3-1 to the rolling Los Angeles Kings. But the Blackhawks are back at home for Game 5 on Wednesday night, and have dug out of similar trouble before. "Just looking to win Game 5," coach Joel Quenneville said after the Blackhawks arrived back in Chicago on Tuesday afternoon. "Thats it. Get the momentum back and go from there." The previous time this series was in Chicago, the Kings seized the momentum with a five-goal third period in a 6-2 victory in Game 2. It carried right over to a pair of impressive victories in Los Angeles that moved the Kings to the brink of their second Stanley Cup Final in three seasons. Los Angeles has shredded Chicagos penalty-kill unit for five goals in its past 10 chances, while holding the Blackhawks to one power-play goal in their past 11 opportunities. Anze Kopitar and the Kings have won 58 per cent (106 of 184) of the faceoffs during the win streak, taking the puck-possession Blackhawks out of their game. "Its one of the things you look at with young centermen is how are they on faceoffs and are they working to improve on it," Los Angeles coach Darryl Sutter said. "Its a special skill. Its one of those stats in hockey when you say youre 50 per cent, you know, if that was us in school, wed be going again." The Kings big advantage against the Blackhawks is a far cry from the beginning of the playoffs, when they lost their first three games against San Jose. But they rallied past the Sharks in seven games, and then eliminated Anaheim after falling behind 3-2 in that series. The twin rallies could help against Chicago. Los Angelees, which won the Stanley Cup in 2012, knows how important it is to quickly close out a team such as the Blackhawks while they are struggling. Joe Barksdale Elite Jersey. "Were expecting their best," Kings centre Trevor Lewis said. "Theyre back at home now. Were expecting them to come out hard. I mean, theyre defending Cup champions. I dont think theyre going to give up by any means." A year ago, the Blackhawks were down 3-1 to the Red Wings in the second round when they headed home for Game 5. Andrew Shaw then had two goals in a 4-1 victory that sparked a series-saving winning streak for Chicago. The Blackhawks also lost their first three games in the first round against Vancouver in 2011, and got all the way back to a 2-1 overtime loss in Game 7. They are drawing on those experiences for this series, while acknowledging the surging Kings are an entirely different problem. "Were looking forward to getting out there tomorrow night," defenceman Brent Seabrook said. "I know the guys were being upbeat on the plane this morning, at breakfast this morning. Were looking forward to getting out there tomorrow and trying to get some momentum back and start feeling good about ourselves again." Seabrook and defensive partner Duncan Keith had one of their worst games of the season in Monday nights 5-2 loss. Keith had a turnover that led to a Marian Gaborik goal, and Seabrook struggled on Chicagos penalty-kill unit. "I (have) got to be better. Doesnt just start with a penalty kill. Its every facet of the game," Seabrook said. "We all got to be out there doing the things that are going to make us win the game. "I think some things happened last game that are uncharacteristic, but at the same time you have to give L.A. credit. Theyre forcing us into different situations. We (have) got to be better and we will be better." ' ' '
