读露易丝. 格律克的《晨祷- Forgive me if I say I love you》

这首诗来自The Wild Iris 诗集（ 1992， 诗人49岁）第 12页 ，是 7首晨祷中的第三首。诗集The Wild Iris 含有 54首诗，诗人以自己对花草，季节，以及其自然现象的观察，以花名，季节及晨祷和夜祷为题目，表达了对生命，宇宙，时空，信仰，过去，现在和未来的思考。The Wild Iris是诗人第六部诗集，也是她影响较大，广受好评的诗集之一，获1993年美国普利策文学奖。这些诗尽管主题内容具有人生，哲理和信仰的思考，但是皆来自于诗人对外在和内心世界的敏感的观察和思索，以及对诗这一艺术形式娴熟，独特，创新的把握，达到了很高的艺术境界，为读者提供了素雅，深邃的审美享受。

本人是门外汉，对诗没研究，只是特别喜欢《晨祷- Forgive if I say I love》这首诗，写这段文字，记述自己的感受，与有兴趣的朋友分享。

1   粗译

原诗：Matins 

Forgive me if I say I love you: the powerful

are always lied to since the weak are always

driven by panic. I cannot love

what I can’t conceive, and you disclose

virtually nothing: are you like the hawthorn tree,

always the same thing in the same place,

or are you more the foxglove, inconsistent, first springing up

a pink spike on the slope behind the daisies,

and the next year, purple in the rose garden? You must see

it is useless to us, this silence that promotes belief

you must be all things, the foxglove and the hawthorn tree,

the vulnerable rose and tough daisy—we are left to think

you couldn’t possibly exist.  Is this

what you mean us to think, does this explain

the silence of the morning,

the crickets not yet rubbing their wings, the cats

not fighting in the yard?

2   意境和解题

这是一首晨祷，意境为沉静中的思索。读者似乎看到作者在山脚下或山中的房前，在蟋蟀和狗还没醒来的晨雾中，宁静中，面对山坡上的山楂树，狐尾花，玫瑰，雏菊，对神的存在，神是否存在于万物之中，存在于宁静之中，产生了怀疑，为自己，为读者提出问题。经过对植物，动物的形象，声音的感受，似乎得到答案:  神就是万物，就在万物之中，在植物，生物中，色彩中，晨雾中，沉静的自然之中。如果你沉下心来，你就能感受到，感受到神就在你身边。这个诗人心中的神，可能是主，或是主宰宇宙的神，掌管万物者。这是一个虔诚的信徒在晨祷中提出的疑问，向读者吐露心声的过程。这是一个虔诚真切的疑问，具有普世性，很容易引起读者共鸣。

3   主题

有与无，动与静，主观和客观，存在与不存在的思考。

这是一种辩证的思考。自然现象的动与静，神的存在与否， 与思索的人的主观意识有关。只要你观察思考静态与动态的植物，生物，你就会意识到神的存在，而正因为它们的存在，衬托出沉静。而沉静则是神本身，就是神的体现。基督信仰中的contemplation, 穆斯林中Sufi meditation，犹太教中沉思，印度教中瑜伽，都有这种肯定神的存在的静思。在佛教的坐禅中尽管不是肯定主宰宇宙的神的存在，但也是在体会宇宙暂时的 “有” 和永恒的 “无” 。在中国老庄哲学中, 也有对于 “有” “无” 永恒的道的思考：“有”只是暂时的，“无”才是永恒的，原本的道。有植物生物的存在，山楂树，易变的狐尾花，蟋蟀，猫的存在，才显示出沉静，永恒的“无”。

这一命题，哲理思考对于有无信仰的东西方人，有无佛, 道的信仰和Abraham的信仰的人都有普遍的意义，都能牵动人们的体会思考。

 4   形式

诗没有分节 (stanza），共17 行，自由体，一气呵成，提出疑问，列举现象，得出结论，好像灵魂一闪念，经过视觉，听觉的想象和思维很快得出结论。又好似低声祈祷，诵经一样，不间隙停顿。

结构采取问答式，思辨式，反问式。明明有答案却要引导读者思索，得出结论：神就存在于万物之中，沉静中，只要你去发现，感受，体验。这是一个主观与客观的辩证，类似六祖禅宗慧能所说的：不是风动。不是幡动。仁者心动。

三段式：提出问题，用形象，声音，现象论证，得出结论。尽管诗很短，却又像奏鸣曲ABA， 主题，展开，结束，像三幕剧的戏剧 ，开始，发展，结束。而且最后一句，难道这能解释早晨的宁静，蟋蟀还没开始蹭翼，猫还未在院里打斗？无论从内容上，还是从音乐性上都让人回味，遐想，余音绕梁。

5   风格

诗人真诚，凝练，短悍地，用自己细微的形象思维，观察感受植物，生物，自然现象，提出自己对信仰和哲学中，存在与不存在的大命题的思考。有亲切，独特，生动，和诚实严肃的感人的力量。
