约翰不仅是全才摄影师，还是演员，制片，编剧，导演，原著，制作人，作曲家，运动员，录音师，声效总监，剪接，歌手，主持人，和特技演员。约翰以天才小子吉米(2001)著名，并且是奥斯卡金像奖获得者(2002).
