The Legend of Tomiris

The Legend of Tomiris recounts the tale of the nomadic ruler who overcame great personal tragedy to repel the powerful Persian empire and unite the Great Steppe.

Excellent movie with real hardships of nomadic life. Tomiris father yearned for a son but he raised his daughter like a warrior. There is an important lesson here that proper upbringing play a key role in child's life irrespective of gender. Loved the bravery, wisdom and tactical planning of Tomiris. Role well played. 5/5 stars. I found it strange that Tomiris husband warned the king of bloodshed and started to enjoy the feast despite the fact that his son was reminding him to be cautious at the kings palace. Ah Tomiris 6th sense warned her and she sent a spy to keep an eye on the caravan and Persian ambassador. She sniffed the danger in the air and her move to declare war was just and fair, in my opinion. Poor advice to Cyrus by his ambassador to kill her husband and son and try negotiating with Tomiris. A faithful women can never imagine to be with a man who killed her son and husband.

What an excellent movie of an extraordinary, decisive & strong lady perfectly portrayed by the female lead. Heritage history says that Queen Tomyris of the Massagetae, is one of the best known female Warriors of the ancient world. Although Cyrus defeated the rich and powerful kingdoms of Lydia, and Babylon, she defeated Persians on her own territory, and killed the Great King. The first encounter between the Persians and Massagetae went badly for Queen Tomyris; the Persians ambushed a detachment of her army and killed her son. But when the two armies met the next day in open battle, the Massagetae prevailed. Cyrus was killed, and his head was brought to Queen Tomyris. Whereas, Britannica states that Herodotus cites Queen Tomyris of the Massagetai, who led her troops against Cyrus II the Great of Persia and killed him in 529 BCE.
