那承想,接着上网,就看到拉瑞-萨么斯侃他当校长的经验,之一,是能从学生穿西装的时间上,鉴别优劣生。原话是这样的:
“One of the things you learn as a college president is that if an undergraduate is wearing a tie and jacket on Thursday afternoon at three o'clock, there are two possibilities. One is that they're looking for a job and have an interview; the other is that they are an a**hole. This was the latter case.”
萨么斯的latter case 是指他当年与Winklevoss brothers的遭遇。凡是留意过Facebook发家史的人,或者看过电影《Social Network》者,都会知道 Zuckerberg vs. Winkevoss twins…的事。不过,大学校长以时间量人的方法,有普遍性吗?
仰视过萨么斯真人演讲一次,刚好在他被迫辞去哈弗校长职位之前,比较随意,不给听众以距离的样子。电影里再见时,看那替身很有气势。现在新闻里感觉着,好像学者追求真理和真实。
名人怎么也是有效用的。拿起那新西装看了又看,尽管不舍,仍然及时给这礼物的收受人发了email:“既然目前不找工作不面试,西装是不是直接免了,省得穿出骂来?”
