在会计行业做了几年，有forture 500, 有global company，也去过小公司， 在四大做过。今天是开博第一天。想为大家做点什么，思来想去。唠唠从业几年对会计行业的认识吧。
一. 什么是会计
提起会计，很多人，尤其是学理工科的同学首先想到的是这样一幕：电影里的帐房先生带着一副老花镜，一手持帐本，一手在拔了算盘。很多同学对会计不屑一顾，一个记帐的，有什么意思。其实不然。
记帐只是会计最底层的表象。会计的职能可以从两方面说。
1。 对external user. 对于上市公司来说，公司定期要向证监所提交会计报表. 一句话，会计在这里的作用就是要提供financial statements that comply with GAAP(General Accepted Accounting Principle). 一句话说的简单，可公司为了提供这样一份报表要有一整套的会计人马, 有一整套的会计policy渗透到公司运营的方方面面，有一整套的internal control over financial reporting to reduce business risk. 经过审计的财务报表来有这样几个用途：在capital market 上，投资者通过对报表的分析了解公司的资金运营，负债情况，偿债能力，现金周转力，投资收益率，营利能力，这些分析叫做financial analysis. 通过这样的分析，投资者决定投资方向。这就是为什么SEC要求financial statements要annual audit，因为它的integrity,决定了资金流向，影响着股市，操作着人们对资金市场的信心。另外，公司的creditor, regulator 也需要财务报表来决定是否给公司提供/延期/曾/减贷款，以及供税务部门来作为收税的依据。就像resume对于一个人，是别人了解你的基本依据，financial statements 是一个公司的resume.
2.对于 internal. Internally, 财务报表主要是给management用来掌握公司运营状况，分析与预算差距，发现管理漏洞，提高成本控制，增加营利能力。可以这样讲，了解会计可以赋予你对公司结构，运营关系的掌握，并赋予你对公司发展规划，策略方向的insight.太多的公司高管都是会计出身。因为会计赋予了他们对公司的全面了解和驾驭公司航行的能力。还有人认为会计不过是一帐房先生吗？
二．会计在公司里的function
会计由这样几个bulk组成：
Accounts payable – duties including review invoice, get proper approval for payment, AP check run, cash disbursement，interact with vendors
Accounts receivable – duties including issue invoice, cash application, interact with customers for mis-payment, over-payment, non-payment
Payroll- manage all payroll related taxes including withholding employee taxes and remit taxes to tax authorities, run payroll and make payroll payment
Corporate accounting- 上述职能之外的所有会计职能。Including：make journal entry, perform month end closing, maintain balance sheet account, review trial balance to make any adjustment, perform ad-hoc financial reports for management, conduct various financial analysis including actual to budget variance analysis, profitability analysis, cost efficiency analysis etc, present and communicate financial result to non-financial readers.
近年来SOX 404 act的implementation,公司越来越多重视对内控制度的规范与加强。很多公司在corporate accounting这一块加上了: review accounting policy, analyze business risk, improve accounting policy and internal control efficiency, interact within organization to ensure the implementation of accounting policy.

我现在企业做了4-5年，后以experienced hire的形式进的四大。如果有机会，建议先进FIRM。以我在企业这么多年的经验，才以STAFF 2的职位进入。因为企业与firm的技能不同。
