We'd been counting days until at last the breeder called us that Lexie was now two-month old and was on the plane from Missouri to New Jersey. It was a Friday. Chen, my elder daughter, came back from Princeton to go to Newark airport with me to pick up our puppy. Kelly, my younger one, begged me, "Mommy, can I miss one day school to go with you and Chen?" I said firmly, "No." But I'm sure Kelly didn't concentrate in school that day.
We waited and waited, time seemed to really go at its leisure. Finally a smiling pet flight attendant walked towards us with a small crate in his hand. It was Lexie! She was tiny, weighed only two pounds. I open the crate door, she stared at me with her big, tearing eyes for a few seconds, then she came directly to my open hands. My heart clutched! I know she is ours now.
Lexie is the cutest little puppy in the world! Though a little nerves and sacrared at the beginning, she was soon running around. In a couple of days, she learned to climb up stairs but going down stairs took her one week. She was so spoiled that whenever I raised my voice at her, she cried. I remember one day, she did something really bad, (I'm not going to tell you what, haha), I yelled at her and walked away from her, she went to Chen and Kelly for sympathy, but both of them pretended to be very angry with her, she then walked to the kitchen and laying there whining. We still kept a stern face. Finally, she came to me, sat in front of me, and looked at me with tears in her eyes. My heart melted. You just can't stop loving her. Everyday while I'm parking my car on the drive way from work, she dashes to the door to greet me. Every morning, after I bring her back from doing her business outside, I would say to her, "Lexie, go see if Kelly's up." She immediately runs upstairs, checks the bathroom, if Kelly's not in the bathroom, she runs to Kelly's room, trying to jump onto bed to wake up Kelly, but if Kelly's already in the bathroom, she would run back to me in the kitchen and looks at me as if telling me, "Mission done, Kelly's up" .
Well, but sometimes, she would not be that cooperative…
